About
Rod Wave Arby's Takeover refers to a viral TikTok trend centered on a fictional event hosted at Arby's fast-food restaurant locations, said to be either hosted by or featuring performances by American rapper Rod Wave. The Rod Wave Arby's takeover trend, which began spreading around the platform in April 2026, consists of creating AI-generated promotional posters advertising the fictional event, usually accompanied by Rod Wave's song "Married Next Year," and videos of TikTok users going to the fast-food chain to listen Rod Wave to try the "Rod Wave Meal," which consists of the Meat Mountain, a large secret menu item that became subject to a viral internet challenge in 2014, or a chitlin sandwhich (a meat product made from the small intestines of pigs).
Origin
The Rod Wave Arby's Takeover meme is based on a recurring online joke that both the restaurant’s food and the artist’s output are perceived by many as "slop."
The "Rod Wave meal" is usually derived from a previous meme and viral food challenge that first emerged around 2014, following the appearance of promotional posters in Arby's locations that displayed the brand’s full range of meats in the form of a single oversized sandwich, which developed into a widely recognized off-menu item that came to be known as the “Meat Mountain.”
As the challenge was popularized online in the 2010s, many internet users expressed disgust with the sandwich, contributing to a wider disdain for the Arby's brand in general.
Likewise, Rod Wave and his music have been subject to mass criticism and mockery over the years, often dubbed as either "corny" or "cringe" in various online spaces (akin to coworker music). As a result, the rapper is often the subject of ironic glazing online.
As the Meat Mountain challenge underwent a resurgence in interest in the 2020s, the two naturally converged in an increasingly absurd manner, harkening to the traits and characteristics found in typical brainrot content.
On April 10th, 2026, TikTok[1] user @danikajjjs uploaded an AI-generated promotional poster for the fictional Rod Wave Arby's Takeover, which received over 410,100 views and 54,700 likes in about 10 days. This is the earliest known meme related to the trend, which quickly spread on social media in the following days.
Similar AI-generated promotional posters began circulating the platform soon after, building hype for the fictional event and prompting TikTok users to go to Arby's to experience the Rod Wave Takeover.
