For me it's always depended on the show.
Something like Cowboy Bebop which works so thoroughly off of western styles or Samurai Champloo which filters Japanese culture through western aesthetics to begin with works so much more smoothly in the dub.

Something like Kill la Kill which you're not going to get all of unless you literally are Japanese and which has a great dub and a powerful need for you to focus on the WHOLE screen not just the bottom is better as a dub.

Something like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, with its hilarious Engrish and being the opposite; western styles as seen through Japanese eyes; can't be watched any other way than subbed.

With most shows, though, either is fine.
