"Insert Pretentious comment about "Subverting Expectations/Pushing the Envelope/Doing Something Different/It's Realistic/Deconstruction Trope #562"

Seriously, I never understand games that do this. I mean I can understand if you're trying to make a point or something….but do players really care about that shit? Especially if they're anyone who has browsed the internet for any length of time? It can be done well, like with the Nier games, but even that game has a sort of good ending in it.

The ones I really don't get are absolutely depressing ones. Especially the ones that insult/berate you for playing them. If you didn't want me playing your video game, why the fuck did you make the fucking video game in the first place?

In the words of ERB J.R.R Tolkien, "We all know the world is full of chance and anarchy/so yes it's true to life for characters to die randomly/but news flash/ the genre's called fantasy/ it's mean to be unrealistic you myopic manatee!"

What is the point for these kind of endings!? There's no point in telling a story if the struggles of the main characters are all for nothing!!!
