Metal Gear alone has conspiracy piled atop conspiracy piled atop conspiracy, literal human cloning as a plot point, cyborg ninjas, and once had a man who fired flesh-eating bees out of their body because they ate a beehive.

That series was almost perfect for representation in Smash. XD

Honestly, at this point I think Pirahna plant proves that anything could get in so long as it was a video game character. The "protagonist" of Adventure on the atari 2600 could probably get in for all we know, and that thing is just a frigging pixel. Ryu Hayabusa is not far fetched at all.
