Well, Ainz does at least have that thing which limits his emotions. He's kinda forced into being a sociopath.

And a lot of the REALLY terrible things his minions get up to (like the whole human breeding facility to provide skin for parchment to create magic scrolls) he doesn't even know about, thinking that the metaphors are literal.
