That was a different situation. The Pokemon not obtainable in the games were still playable through the means of transferring from other games within Gen 3 such as Colosseum and FireRed/Leafgreen. In Sword and Shield non-Galar Pokemon won't exist at all. The competitive metagame is a complete mess, this is necessary to balance it. They already had systems in place to balance the competitive scene, in XY and SM, Pokemon would have a mark signifying that they were obtained within gen 6/7. They could just expand upon that. They are improving the quality of the game, Quality> Quantity. Judging from what we have seen, this is highly doubtful. 800 + Pokemon wasn't an issue when Sun and Moon released and it isn't an issue now. Even if they did magically improve the quality of the games, having every Pokemon is the most basic thing that makes Pokemon stand out from every other game. The sheer amount of Pokemon and consistently being able to have all of them in every game. Game Freak has already cut so much content over the years, when will it stop? There are too many resources to manage, there are thousands of models to work with, Game Freak can't handle it. Then why don't they either hire new blood or outsource it like every other developer in charge of a (supposedly) AAA series does? Game Freak doesn't have enough development time! Not only is this an issue with them being stubborn and keeping their employee count low/not outsourcing work on the game, it has been stated by Ishihara of The Pokemon Company that these games have been in development before even Let's Go!, meaning they've been in the works since at least 2016. You were never able to catch every Pokemon, why are you only complaining now?? While in past games not every Pokemon was obtainable within that game, you were always able to simply transfer from other games. one cares abo [unpopu Pokemon] anyway, I think they're right in removing them. Not only is that extremely selfish but it's absolutely wrong. Every Pokemon is loved by someone, regardless of how YOU feel about them. Maybe they'll add it in a later update! Game Freak (specifically Masuda) has stated they are not intending to do any updates or DLC for the series at this time, and they have never done so before. Well, seeing how there are gonna be Pokemon cut from the code with no clue as to whether they'll be added in later, I figured it's time to jump ship to the (objectively) better franchise
