What I Watched / What I Expected / What I Got - Coco was a (Plane) ride.

On the way back from a vacation in Italy, I got the chance to watch Coco. It was pretty good. Made me cry like a bitch though. Music was great. Story was a bit predictable, but it was very moving. They animated the skeletons in a cool way! Also the film is pretty (it's Pixar dammit!). I'm overly emotional when it comes to media sometimes, I'll admit it. Ignore my rambling below if you want the pure meme-viewing experience.

Hector's character (moreso in the earlier parts of the film) gave me Linebeck vibes, being a (seemingly) incompetent sidekick who serves as comic relief (until the end). Tuesday is in place of Miguel because they both ran away from home to try pursuing their dreams of music (Tuesday is a lot more mature than Miguel at the start though). The scene where Miguel enters the spirit world for the first time reminded me of Spirited Away. The picture on the near bottom left corner is real life Mexican artist Frida Kahlo's "The Two Fridas"- a self-portait (of sorts) known for possibly being referenced in Touhou 11. Frida Kahlo shows up in the movie a few times herself as a skeleton (since she's long-dead). The image in the right corner is the Vocaloid song La llanora, based on the urban legend of the same name. The joke is that there's a song named La llanora in the film.
