Like, it could be one that looks just like it, but years of being out on the lam probably means Ruber doesn't have much in the way of armor and weapons other than what he may have brought with him when he fled Camelot. This explains his need to create an mechanical army with pride. The barbarians he allies with are basically woodwose-like wild men, who wear the skins the animals as loincloths and that's about it. They probably have next to nothing of arms and armor (which explains the goofy guy with the fork who comes up next to the pit, before Ruber hands him a crossbow. The fork was probably all he had. The crossbow was probably pilfered from Lady Juliana's estate, as were much of the other weapons he used to combine with the wildmen.
