It's even worse because Hollywood isn't even properly realistic half the time. It's basically realism on a sugar rush, going for bigger explosions, more dramatic sequences, et cet. But it's held back by reality itself in many ways. In order to strive for some of the best movies, they have to do a lot of CGI and animatronics.
So it's the equivalent of a medium that can go above and beyond imagination limiting itself to a watered down sugar rush.
Stylized character design is always going to be more memorable than realistic character design, unless the latter is compensated with excellent characterization.
