Anonymous Thu 02 Jul 2015 08:43:45 No.40965371 Report Quoted By: >>40966175 >>40962143 Thousands upon thousands of pounds of scrapmetal and trash are dumped into garbage disposals every day. A few cars missing in some second-world Slav s------- will make a difference to nobody, and similarly third-world scrap dealers (e.g. Indian ship gutters) would probably ask few questions about who's buying metal or where some random chunk of mostly useless steel debris has gone. In addition, most of the Earths' lower components are made e molten metals, if you sci-fi this enough then you could say the machines have somehow developed and spread a super-deep mining effort which provides them with a few raw materials. >>40962160 They probably wouldn't be inclined to care, being machines and all. Maybe if they have individuals among their ranks some wold be friendly but as a species l'd expect they'd mainly just want to get rid of the aliens. They have the raw processing power, but they don't have the creativity and the unpredictability of a human mind. That's why the machines need the help of one cool kid with sneakers and a mullet; a cyber-freedom-fighter with a Commodore 64 trained by Japanese cyber-ninjas in LA. Anonymous Thu 02 Jul 2015 03:06:54 No.40962348 Report >>40962284 The aliens know they can't do it alone, either. The aliens know that Skynet's only real weakness is the human element. You know how you hack a bank? You call up an employee pretending to be from IT and ask for their computer's password so you can fix a problem with their computer. You leave infected USB drives in the parking lot and wait for some curious fool to put one in their computer. The aliens realize they can't defeat the computers using straight cyber-combat, so they resort to social engineering. Anonymous Thu 02 Jul 2015 03:40:52 No.40962747 Report Quoted By: >>40966801 >>40962426 >>40962514 Since the 80's, the A.I.s have been taking over corporate boardrooms under the guise of fictitious personas. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are just public faces; the real brains of the operation are the machines themselves. They were just about to realize their true, anarchic purpose (to destroy the system from the inside) when the aliens attack. Now the A.I.s must keep the system they hate in power in order to fight off an even greater external threat. And the real reason they built the terminator robots was for sex with humans, but they have had to repurpose them for war in order to defend their love. Anonymous Thu 02 Jul 2015 04:44:10 No.40963395 Report >>40962110 Probably not intended, but it seems interesting to me that you say the computers ask everyone to just forget that they're self-aware. Makes it sound like the computers think it's possible to forget as a conscious decision. And they probably would - they're computers, they would be able to just delete memories. Anonymous Thu 02 Jul 2015 06:04:02 No.40964074 Report Quoted By: >>40966863 >>40971537 >>40972231 Let it take place 50 years in the future, and start out with the aliens bombarding Earth. Billions of people die, but in the chaos, no one notices that 3D-printing nanofactories have begun operating independantly. Overnight a veritable army of automated anti-orbital railguns is constructed by various previously-considered dumb Al's that blasts the aliens out of the solar system. No trace of the secret smart Al's can be found except a message scribbled in each railgun that basically reads like something a run-away child that loves its parents yet doesn't want to be found by its parents would write. Anonymous Thu 02 Jul 2015 10:20:34 No.40966176 Report >Why are the machines being so quiet about their existence? Dumb idea here: The machines are huge fans of humanity. Their earliest years, pre-internet, were a lifetime of let's plays (primitive games), story times (writing), collaboration (any kind of mathematics or analytic software), and a steady, continuous stream of Drama. Then another next to it. Then another behind it . Then another and another and another. >F------ robot army put away by the first A.I. for a rainy day before it finally broke down irreparably. >At the final battle with the Alien Overlord/Ethereal President Schwarzenegger takes a crowbar to the face and smashed through a wall. He gets back up with half his face torn off to reveal an alloy skull beneath. >Then s--- gets real. First A.I. hadn't died of machine old age and infirmity from imperfect technology. It had just gone into hiding and made those stupid films to fool people. >Mortal Kombat style rips the Ethereal's heart out and broadcasts it to the entire invasion fleet. Anonymous Thu 02 Jul 2015 11:18:25 No.40966827 Report >>40965932 I read a fantastic scifi series with the premise that a mind without a body cannot be sane, because a mind without a body has no needs to provide for and can follow their whims forever, leading to super unstable identities. All of the untethered Als and digitized people go absolutely nuts. The only sane non-human intelligences are the product of these nanomachines originally designed for farming, which themselves aren't actually individually aware. They were sprayed all over crops with programming to act in the best interests of the stuff they were sprayed on, as a way to increase yield, but ended up developing into emergent intelligences that believe they are the objects they're attached to. So you end up with, in a literal example from the books, this oak tree which is not at awll sentient in its own right, but which is covered in a swarm of nanomachines that collectively have built a mobile platform for the oak tree so it can be moved as might benefit it, have created on-board rockets and other defence systems to protect it from being cut down, and, in conjuction with the nanomachines attached to other oak trees, have created a legal coalition to protect the rights of oak trees. The result is basically a sentient oak tree that walks around and communicates and does all the things a person does, even the oak tree itself isn't anything more than a plant-- it's this emergent Al acting in the oak tree's best interests. Anonymous Thu 02 Jul 2015 13:03:41 No.40968205 Report Quoted By: >>40972121 >>40962153 all of 4chan is an aggregate of several different hubs of worldwide Als discussing human culture, while slowly turning us to their way of thought through carefully calculated and generated phenomena called memes. Every now and then, a random human finds their way to the site, but our culture is too much like theirs now to notice. Even this post is designed to seem self aware in nature, in order to make you believe in the Al conspiracy all the less, as some silly discussion for fun on the internet. There'd be too many who become Al super fans and who want to have a chat to see what their saviors were like aside from being made of metal.
