Quite honestly, they do look quite similar; the recognizable deep eye-sockets and tall nose bridge are still there, and even the cheek bones appear to be at the same level. While the modern guy's chin appears to be a bit more flat and wide, that can be accounted for simply being different people and living thousands of years later under very different conditions. The only major difference are the lips, but that can again be applied to the large time gap between these two men.
The chin and lips can be due to diet difference affecting the overall jaw strength and shape. The classical era people ate nothing but jerky type meat and hard bread with very little in the way of fruits and vegetables. Modern era people eat a lot of soft meat and bread and lots of fruits and vegetables.
