When you request support, you can actually wait for few minutes and the assisting players will do the job for you. For the added bonus you'll get the full sync points while the players who does the work only gets the partial credit.

To be fair, even those requesting support will also help assisting others since players can still get majority of the assist sync points even if they failed to defeat Hiryuu. We're all in the same boat either way but this image is a good way to parody what it comes across.
