The Cipactli is the world serpent of Aztec Mythology.

Described as a cross between a caiman, frog and fish; it was eternally hungry and had an extra mouth on every limb joint.

In order to re-create the world after a great flood, the God of Providence, Tezcatlipoca, sacrificed his foot to the beast, so that they could lure it close enough to both him and the God of Life, Quetzalcoatl (A.K.A. The Feathered Serpent) in order to use it's body to create the new world.
