Notes
Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, who was abducted and carried off to the underworld by Hades to be his wife. She was later rescued, after her mother, Demeter, ordered that no plants would grow until she was returned. However, Hades tricked her into eating some pomegranate seeds, which meant she had to spend a third of the year (Later revised to half a year, by later poets) with Hades in the underworld. This is the foundation of how the seasons work in Greek Mythology.
