Notes:

The Great Dying was a mass extinction event that saw 96% marine life and 70% terrestrial life being completely wiped out, compared to the more famous extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs which saw only 80% of all life being destroyed.

This is probably the only time when one can say "Only 80% of all life destroyed" as a minor thing.

It's like saying "Yes, your husband's body was completely obliterated in the crash, but rejoice as we've found his hat and both his feet".
