Sable is definitely a text book example of a comfort character… though, I find it kinda funny how most of the time "comfort characters" turn out to be: "This is character is problematic as hell, and they have done terrible things, but they're my favorite so they get a free pass."

PS. For what is worth, Bertha the Hippo, also from Animal Crossing, is my comfort character.
