Sure, but there was a still a colossal "what-if" hanging over everyone, plus a $5 Billion plan to try and make sure it didn't happen.

Which, depending on your mind set, was either money wasted or money well spent to solve it.

I'm pretty sure the only reason Y2K had so little impact in the first place was because it was made to be a huge deal such that everyone scrambled to fix bugs created by poorly implemented code.
It might be the perfect example of "When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."
