So I started a thread on /k/ to find out more about the Admiral Kuznetsov as I had heard nothing but memes about the ship and wanted to know if it was as as bad as everyone says it is.

It is, but it's also a very interesting design.

Basically, due to a treaty Russia signed with Turkey. it's not allowed to bring an aircraft carrier into or out of the Black Sea. Because of this, the Admiral Kuznetsov is a "Missile Cruiser" that just so happens to be able to launch planes….although, landing those planes is an entirely different matter.

The thread was actually surprisingly civil and informative, which has been a nice change of space, and is definitely worth a read if you were as curious about the history of the ship as I was.
