Sonic is the best game ever to come to the Genesis. It is challenging but never to the point of frustration. Sonic's speed is second to none and the best part is when he turns into a pinball. Lots of secret rooms to keep you searching while progressing through the game. Spectacular! The Genesis has been hit by a sonic boom. He faster than anything you've ever seen. If you thought the Enterprise was quick, wait till you see Sonic at warp speed. This game is absolutely unbelievable! If you don't buy it it's because you don't have a Genesis...yet. Super Sonic, Super Sonic... Sonic is Super all right! The Genesis should- n't be able to put Nintendo's 16- banger to shame so early in the con- test. Nothing compares to Sonic in every category: music, graphics, ani- mation, theme, and control! To top it all off, Sonic even has an attitude!! King Koopa's back! This time he's kidnapped the princess and hidden her away in his underground fortress! Travel through 96 areas of action to reach her, fighting Koopa soldiers and Goombas all along the way. King Koopa's Family is helping him, however, so Mario and Luigi have their hands full! Luckily, they are not alone in their quest. Four dif- ferent Koopa-eating Dinos are ready to help. Go Mario!! While Super Mario World may not be the ideal cart to show off all the fancy things that the Super NES can do, it is a solid continuation of the Mario series. Even more secrets, hidden games, special moves and great game play can be found, with the addition of 16-Bit looks. A winner! Easily the best Mario adventure yet but I had hoped that Nintendo would do more with the game than just make another Mario adventure. This should show off the system's capa- bilities but there just aren't enough special effects when compared to other S-NES games. Super Mario 4 is the biggest and most fun to play game ever! Each level has something totally new! You would think after 3 sequels that the big 'N' would suffer from idea burn- out. Almost perfect, but then again no game is perfect. I'll take 96 levels of Mario over 20 of Sonic any day! Here you have it! The ultimate Mario adventure! Super Mario World is a perfect subtitle, with 96 areas to explore! Everything just plain blew me away! Only one game in this genre rates higher in my book, but since tens are impossible, Sonic will have to share the same rating.

BLAST AWAY... Recently I've heard Sega claim that the Genesis has a feature called Blast Processing. Sega also boasts that the Super NES doesn't have this technology. Sega is quite vague when it comes to giving away the exact meaning or procedure of their new technology. Such is the case about their 'exclusive blast processing mode'. What they would say when questioned, is that BP is "the total power dedication of the Genesis system to giving a character on screen a very quick blast of speed. This guarantees the fastest power punch ever delivered on a 16-Bit system." Sega states that BP is like kicking the system into turbo-charge. The first example of BP occurs in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 when Sonic or Tails get into their spin-dash maneuver and bolt across the screen "in the blink of an eye". Revolutionary? You tell us!)
