B) This is exactly the sort of reaction they expect and exactly the reason they keep approving this kind of trash at an executive level. No matter how bad a show or movie is, if it has enough POC representation there are enough idiots out there who will defend it to the death. They are using representation to conceal the poor quality of their product and if you are one of those POCs then you should demand better content that represents you, not defend lazy pandering.
