Considering how the wii released in 2006, I doubt they thought about the SNES console as much. Especially since the wii sold better than the snes and was backwards compatible with the gamecube (and as a bonus had easy to obtain RGB cables).

Virtual console also had some of nintendos best tiles on it, including SNES titles.
