Considering they also did "Do you even lift?" with one of the snomads, I'm sure they're well aware of what memes are considered "relevant" (people often forget that anonymous internet users can be literally anyone, including an employee at a major multi-national corporation), and the joke with this one is simply "I'm an old man who doesn't understand what you kids find amusing these days" so the "meme" is lame on purpose.

Like seriously I kinda facepalmed at all the people who didn't get that this is so obviously a lame joke done on purpose, and that this is supposed to be someone playing an in-character Cranky Kong (an old ape who always berates young people like his own son, and always goes on about "back in my day…!"). It's SUPPOSED to sound like an old person doing a poor job at trying to do something "kids today" find amusing.
