Only after looking at comparisons do I suddenly realize how… “dark” the graphics in Brawl looked (also kinda applies to Melee). Not sure if it’s just because of the upgrade to high definition, but I like how much brighter things look now. I also like that Mario looks more like how he does in his own games, meaning no more “realistic denim textures” (he looks more like his 3D World character model).

I keep forgetting how funny DK looked in the original Smash (especially given the fact we had a DK game on the N64 that very year where DK looked more detailed). And of course Link went from his Ocarina of Time design in the first two games, to Twilight Princess design in Brawl, and his new design in Smash 4 looks like a combination of the Twilight Princess design with Skyward Sword coloring (meaning the green on his tunic is much lighter).
