RWBY - Velvet's Weapon is...

I think that the box is a sewing kit, and her weapon is a stuffed animal that turns into a monster that fights for her. Apparently Monty has said she's more magic centered, and the story of the Velveteen Rabbit is about stuffed animals coming to life. And so I think she carries the box (sewing kit) around to hold the stuffed animal and supplies to patch it up if it's hurt in battle. Maybe it's something likę a domesticated creature of Grimm.
