Edging In the Back of Class or Edging In Class refers to a satirical concept about "edging" in a classroom at school, as in, masturbating until the brink of orgasm but then stopping oneself and repeating over and over again. The concept followed a slew of memes about edging on TikTok in late 2023, related to other sexual slang terms like "gooning."

Origin

The earliest known meme about the concept of edging in class was a Looksmaxxing video posted by TikToker^[1] @mine_craft37_ on September 10th, 2023, which received roughly 21,300 plays and 1,000 likes in two months (shown below).

Spread

The concept became increasingly viral on October 13th, 2023, when TikToker^[2] @chakajoey505 posted a Rumpelstiltskin scene from Shrek with text reading, "me when im edging to bro in class," gaining roughly 4.8 million plays and 656,400 likes in one month (shown below, left). On October 17th, TikToker^[3] @slideshows4eva captioned a video of an astronaut training with "Pov: that one kid edging at the back of the class," gaining roughly 3.2 million plays and 689,600 likes in three weeks (shown below, right).

The concept became increasingly viral going into late 2023. For instance, on October 29th, 2023, TikToker^[4] @thetruedumbass posted a video with a Five Nights at Freddy's greenscreen template and text reading, "Me edging in the back of class trying not to let it out," gaining roughly 1.1 million plays and 240,700 likes in nine days (shown below).
