This reminds me of the guy with the fully functional jetsuit (Yves Rossy). Totally works, exactly what people wanted (or really a version of what they wanted that they didn't know they wanted) and likely never going to be superior to planes, trains, and automobiles because there's a reason those things were already invented and are now used widely.
