As a completely heterosexual male, I think Alain Delon sings sexy as shit, especially his laugh at 2:44…

Oh Alain, stop it!

Uhhh, i mean, time to cut timber, chew tabacoo, and drink beer like a man!

Yes, it's off topic, and yes, the discussion is mostly over, but I feel like saying so anyways.
I don't have a girlfriend, have never had a girlfriend, and I am perfectly okay with this.
Of course, I'm kinda asexual, so… I'm probably not the best person to talk to about this kinda thing.

Dac wrote:

Lets play a game! Based on what we know about each other, match the person to the pony! Give reasons why and shit!

@Ric
Its more of a power thing and not one of attraction, at least thats why I want to rape you!

@ The GF/BF discussion
Ive given my two cents and I think Im about done with it. Unless someone calls me out.

But this is mainly a ponies thread. Ponu takes precedence in my mind. I'm not opposed to talking about our lack of romance, but I've always tried to related it to bronies on the whole and not just us.

Besides, if I really let loose on my opinions about relationships, you'd hate it. Briefly, dac and Ric are right: looks are the main determinant on who you'll date (and as such, who you'll marry.) That's the reason I went into the social sciences, and I've seen plenty of studies that support that.

Other things play into it, but how you look plays a huge part in ending up in the "friend zone."

Anyway, dac's discussion. I'll start off with myself:

Twilight Sparkle I'll keep it to the mane six, and just say Applejack.

Applejack is a pretty well-balanced pony, and she's from the South (like me…although she's more Western South than Southeast.) We're both traditional in ways, we both like being helpful, and we both like to chill.

In terms of the Elements of Harmony, I'm not particularly funny or kind. I don't know how to qualify magical. I am loyal to my friends, but that takes a while, because I don't trust easily. And I'm not generous by any means. Honesty suits me best. I don't always say what I think out of tact, but if I ever have the chance to take advantage of a falsehood or be disadvantaged by telling the truth, I generally just come out with the truth.

I have aspects of Twilight Sparkle. I'm certainly an egghead and a geek, but I love playing and watching sports too much. I don't really care much about academics so much as I do discussion. Academics is mostly a means (piece of paper) to an end (paying off loans to pursue my dream job of being a mailperson in a small village in Japan or something low-stress.)

Pinkie is fun to watch, but I am not her (although I have been called a ninja for a few reasons.) I simply don't put out energy or emotion unless I have to. Rarity has OCD and is concerned with treating her friends. I prefer to just spend time listening to them, and I couldn't care less about neatness as long as things are orderly.

Rainbow Dash is a bit loud. I don't talk unless I feel as if I need to. I do like being athletic and feel bad that I can't be the competitive athlete I was in high school and college though. In that sense, I'm much like Fluttershy, but it's not hard for me to speak up either. I also don't really like animals.

How's that, dac?

For some reason. I'm always in the friend zone when it comes to girls. And for another magical reason I'm in the Killzone because of their boyfriends…So off to Dustbowl
walks off with Applejack

@ Verbose
Yes! Im right! A WINRAR IS ME

About my discussion, I will start with Twilight

I am quite a nerd and I do like to read quite a bit, but I love fashion, sports, and social events too much to say I am like her. Also, I am not a driven academically as she is nor do I have any sense of urgency when it comes to school work.

Applejack. I do have quite a bit of experience with livestock, also like her, I am completely fine with physical labor. I tend to be stubborn and proud to a fault. I hate when people offer help for example. Makes me feel like they think I can't do it. Im not very honest though, hehe.

Rainbow dash. When It comes to some things, I am just like her, a procrastinator. I am also a very competitive person. I am an adrenaline junkie as well and I love speed( roller coasters, bungie jumping, dirt bikes, cars). I also an a hotheaded person at times and somewhat mean spirited. I find it funny how I can relate to rainbow dash very well, but she bothers me.

Rarity. I don't think I need to say much, its pretty obvious in what respects I am like rarity.

Fluttershy. I can't really say much about her. I like animals, but besides that, I can't relate to her at all.

Last but not least, Pinkie pie. I am really talkative most of the time. I like parties as well. I can't say I have as much energy. Im more laid back. I do, however, love to make jokes and just have a good time. I'm Ok with plenty of relaxation time though, so I can't really say that I am like pinkie pie.

@ Cite

…I don't even know who you are, Commander.

But you remind me of CitationNeeded, so let's go with that.

Easily, Rainbow Dash Easily. And not because it's Cite's favorite.

Rainbow is actually smarter than her athleticism and jockness would indicate. She's pretty keen on picking up on things and in being suspicious based upon it. I'm getting that from Sweet and Elite and The Last Roundup: two episodes that I felt didn't praise RD (not many of those episodes though) or didn't make her out to be a complete jerk (MMDW or May the Best Pet Win!) I know Citation has played sports before and at least has an eye on sporting developments.

They are also both rather quick to anger. Even though they both seem to be getting better about that.

I can't speak to how loyal he is, but I've never been betrayed by him nor have I seen him betray anyone else. He's pretty funny, but not in the make you Smile, Smile, Smile way. Kindness. Um, no. He also doesn't have what I might consider magic. He's much not particularly open, but I've never seen him backpedal on anything. Honesty is hard to gauge when you're not sure what the truth is. Generosity: he's actually pretty willing to run SynchTubes and he started and invited people to the MSN group which has been a pretty good success so far…

But he doesn't seem to be much of a Rarity. Football and gaming probably falls into "uncouth" territory. He's smart, but he doesn't act like your basic dork like Twilight. Applejack is the get-alongest pony you're ever going to meet. Yeah…Cite's not that. He also doesn't mind speaking up, so Fluttershy doesn't have that extroversion that he shows on the thread. Pinkie is so friendly and wants to be friends with everyone. Look at Cite's friends on his profile.

Also, if you look on his profile, you'll see the general consensus of CitationNeeded: Being the nicest ass ever. I can't say that Dash is nice, but she does mean well, and she does have a heart of gold.

Rainbow Dash describes Citation far better than everyone else.

So let him know I typed all of that for him, Commander. I have reading I still need to do, but I wanted to type that up before I continued with that.

Your quantitative methods, while impressive, are quantitative. Even with the qualitative basis, the results are a graph, and the categories are pretty hard (either present for the sake of the analysis or not.)

Using different words in a purely qualitative write-up adds a level of depth and nuance. It also isn't something for each person in particular. I like for people to have something special for each individual sometimes. So whereas yours is a lot more objective and more accurate, anything like a graph where the delineations could only be made by a few people (I think BSoD had a hand in it) or maybe just one person doesn't lend itself to conversation, and more importantly, it doesn't lend itself to others being able to give their personal take on themselves or another user.

It doesn't even have our names in it.

But if you haven't seen it yet, check it out. It's something beyond me, but it's something that you can draw conclusions from.

If I may be so bold, you strike me as Trixie. I don't know much about you, but you seem to carry an air of superiority with most of your posts and seem to be somewhat narcissistic. Your post usually consist of you saying 1) we are acting stupid and you are getting dumber because of our post2) we are off topic and thus acting dumb 3) we are pervs 4) a snarky comment. You are an ass, but its Ok. We like you for what you are and you don't need to change a thing. You rare a lovable asshole!

No, my analysis doesn't have names in it because of the way the data was processed. But, like I said, I have an archive of everyone's data, and I can release them if people want.

And since we're on the topic, do one for me. I'm curious to compare it to my data.

@opspe

…I'm scared to now.

Also, dac, I don't mean it's bad. It offers something in a succinct <img src="https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/101/781/Y0UJC.png" height="20" / > and easy-to-read way. We could talk about each other and how we are/are not like the mane six for pages, and that analysis is something no one else can do.

I'll write one up in a while. Other people should get in on it first though. I'm still reading and stuff.

Puh-lease, you are clearly twilight.
You are an intellectual in every sense of the word and are always serious. Even when I bring up stupid topics ( futashy) you still manage to make very well though out posts. I forgot exactly what you are studying, but its something in chemistry. twilight studies Magic which is the pony equivalent!

@Dac: Twilight?

Actually that's more or less what I was thinking. Except I would say that I tend to have more social skills than her.

Now, if I had to analyze you, it's hard to compare you to just one of the Mane 6, but I would say you're most like AJ (by a little). I think you're more like Pinkie than you believe, at least from how you portray yourself here.

Just kidding. Im not quite sure. Give me time to think and discuss that with the board.

@Dac – Well, you see, any amount of social skills on my part exceeds Twilight.

@Giga – The only belligerent character that comes to mind is Gilda. I hesitate to say that you're like her though since she's an absolute cunny, and you aren't, no matter how much of a hater you act like. You at least have proper reasons for hating.

Oh, good one Opspe. Gilda could work. plus Giga said Im not his friend anymore because of one pic. Just like how Gilda isn't friends with dash anymore just because she stuck up for Pinkie pie.

I made the coolest ship EVER
Alright, so it is Luna X Ghost hat
I repeat, Luna loves Ghost Hat
SHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIP

@Dac

Hmm…

The way I'm going about this is actually pretty loose. I think of what I know of the posters, and then I think which pony best suits them. No judging, just perceiving.

Given that, you seem to have a lot of Rarity and a lot of Pinkie Pie. Pinkie doesn't really care about how she looks, but Rarity is way too serious. But since I need to pick one, I'd lean heavily towards Pinkie Pie.

I'm basing that solely on her Element: Laughter. I think you suit a particular Element of Harmony more than me or Cite. You're not usually serious when you post (even though you know I tend to be and forget that about you regularly.) You're very happy when you post, and you only mean to get a laugh out of the thread. It also doesn't hurt that you normally have Pinkie as your avatar.

Of course, Rarity would suit your attention to style and Fluttershy or Applejack might suit your experience and like of animals, but I don't think Fluttershy or AJ suit your personality very well. Rarity's doesn't either except in her moments of hysteria, and even then, you're not really hysterical. I can't really draw many comparisons to Twilight Sparkle. I think you're one of the least dorky in terms of how your post, even though you call your self a geek. You have some similarities to Rainbow Dash, and you probably like to tease a lot more than most, but I think your teasing is more at Pinkie's "make everyone smile" approach than RD's "this is going to be priceless" approach.

@opspe

Twilight Sparkle. Period.

You have a good base of knowledge in a lot of different things, but a lot of it is based in experience rather than books. However, I think Twilight is the person other ponies would go to if they needed to know the answer to something (regardless of living in the library.) I considered Rarity, because she seems to be more worldly, but there's no reason for me to think that she's well-traveled or very experienced.

Like you said, you are more socially capable than most people on this thread, but you're not really social either? Twilight seems to really enjoy most ponies company. That fact that you post says you do, but other people "grin" in their posts like Twilight Sparkle does. She's a rather friendly pony. Despite being kinda dorky, I think it's hard not to like her (that's going by a quick glance at her being the least likely to be considered least favorite pony in the survey so far, I think.) Gigatoast "grins." dac "grins." Connor "grins." But you're not much of a grinner.

I can't really imagine an Element of Harmony for you either. Magic doesn't really describe you. Neither does Laughter, Honesty, Kindness, or Loyalty in particular. Like Citation, you certainly give a lot of yourself, so you're generous, but Rarity's mien doesn't quite express your personality like Twilight's. Rarity would be a decided second, but most certainly second and not first.

Well…
Applejack- as my favorite out of the mane 6, I'm surprised I'm not the most like her. I just love her personality. She's hard-working, and will always be there for you. This is what I look for in a friend, someone just like Applejack. Out of the mane 6, she's perhaps the most sane and level headed, and perhaps that's why she's not too popular in the polls. no one attribute really sticks out for her, but for me, it's the sum of her entire personality that makes me love her. Also the accent. It's brilliant, and there was a point where I tried to adopt such an accent, and miserable failed at it. So yeah, I'm not really like Applejack, but she's cool.

Pinkie Pie- the closest match to me. I love being silly and doing everything different than everyone else does. And yes, I do break out in song often to annoy people. It's fun. Randomness is like the reason for both our existences, and I can never really stay mad for too long at someone. Meh on the partying aspect, I mean, I can be a pretty good party thrower, but since parties here mostly involve alcohol, I'm not to into them. Insecure? Yep. There was a point in high school where I was so insecure with my true, Pinkish self that I barely talked to anyone, in fear that people would find me annoying. And really, I had so much i wanted to talk about, and whenever there was a conversation, I would listen and really wanted to join in, but I was really scared to. My friends are pretty great, but like Pinkie, sometimes they find me a bit, odd.

Fluttershy- Like her, I find it difficult to convey my true emotions at times, even today. When I meet a new person, it's like I don't know what to say. And I'm not comfortable around large groups of people I don't really know at all. I always help out anyone in need, even if I have no idea how to help or even if I don't want to, the Flutters side of me just wants to I guess. I love animals too, especially turtles. Remember kids, slow and steady wins the race!

Rarity- I'm sorry to say, I'm not really like Rarity at all. As long as I look presentable (and believe me, I do), I don't really bother with my appearance. Sometimes I like to change up my hair style, switch between glasses and contacts, etc, but my wardrobe overall is very small. A simple t-shirt and skirt/shorts do it for me. My apartment is a complete mess, and so is my hair most of the time. My vocabulary is either really childish irl, or rather refined online, depending on how I want to present myself. But that accent, sexalicious. Tried that too, you can guess the results.

Twilight- for some reason, I don't really like her. And by that, I mean I love her dearly, but not as much as the other 5 mane ponies. Dunno why, but she always sounds a bit annoying to me, and overworks Spike. But yeah, I love learning and reading new stuff. Kinda meh into books, but forums, I could read those for days. I guess I'm a nerd to some degree, and grades? They better be all As, or I'll explode.

Rainbow Dash- she was my least favorite at one point, due to her abrasiveness and arrogance, but I found that as a fault with the show writers, not her personality. Since then, I have realized the error of my ways. My entire life is based off of laziness, and I generally avoid doing things I don't have to. But like her, if you need something done quickly and efficiently, I'm your pony- err, I mean girl. I'm not too competitive overall, although with grades, it's a different story.

That didn't seem quite right. Everyone else's was about 5x shorter. Guess that's my daily, late night TL;DR.

Verbose is Trixie.

So, what does everyone think of me? I don't think I portray myself as pinkie pie here, but believe me, if you meet me in real life, after you get past my initial shyness, I'm just filled with bouncing off the wall energy and oodles of noodles of poodles of fun.

Perhaps I should rephrase that, opspe.

You don't seem to be especially described with Laughter, Honesty, Kindness, or Loyalty. The "in particular" meant that you don't seem to be particularly associated with any of those more than generosity. I'd say I lack loyalty more than most if not all here, because I've complained directly and indirectly about this thread and the community as much as Cite, but in different ways. Also, it takes a long time for me to become loyal. So for me to me to say you lack it would be hypocritical.

@twins

Don't hate me because I'm confident.

I have tons of shortcomings: a lot of small ones and a couple of large ones. Pride is one of them. But I needed that pride for when all of the praise I got when I was younger meant nothing, because I was this short, white-acting black kid who people just kinda humored. I'm still not sold that I'm not, but it's better than thinking I'm a constant burden to people. : /

See? You made me cry. I'm crying now. Like, for reals.

Clearly I jest.

Have some Sweetie Belle!

-
How is Rarity associated with generosity? I mean, sure, she made those dresses for the others, and then painstakingly remade them when they all didn't like it. That's generosity at its best. But then the show writers completely forgot about it. Taking Spike's jewel so willingly seemed quite out of character for her supposed generosity.

Sounds like a plan. I'll start with the USSR, you can begin with the nihilist worldview.

@twins – I have to agree. Rarity is usually portrayed as being narcissistic, which isn't usually associated with generosity. Sometimes her actions can speak differently, but to me that seems more driven by loyalty than anything else.

I'm still crying and stuff, so I can't see anything clearly, but I'm going to defend Rarity's element anyway…

  • She offered to give a stranger (Twilight) a free makeover.
  • She gave up her own tail to appease Steven Magnet.
  • She offered to make dresses for her friends…twice…and then again in Season 2.
  • Twilight offers her generosity by asking Celestia to give her a room? Make her a new dress.
  • She offers to pay for her jerk of a date (even though AJ decided to give her the common carnival food on the house.)

And in lieu lolstaz, I'll say that she gets too much grief. You know how she hates to get messy as much as Dash hates losing, but she isn't afraid to if she has to (whereas Dash has only lost so that she could read for herself.) She put her head in garbage for Pinkie. She got herself muddy to help AJ and Twilight. She got herself soaked in mud for Sweetie Belle. She's far below Twilight and Pinkie, but I like her in a lot more than AJ now.

I think she enjoys nice things like jewels. I don't think accepting those things makes her stingy if a friend wants to give it to you. I'm not generous myself, even though I hate accepting gifts.

Since I can't think of anything to contribute to the defense of Rarity, I'll just continue the game from before, Verbose is Twi, as they are both friendly intelectuals.

Eh uses the science, and doesn't afraid of tl;dr He (or you, not sure who I'm supposed to be addressing) always seems to respond to debates/issues/arguments/conversations with a scientific and logical approach, but not to the point of being robotic. He/you respond to anyone, even if they completely disagree, in a levelheaded and friendly manner, and can joke in addition to science-ing. Certain triggers cause the both of them to flip (granted Verbs doesn't come anywhere near twi-nut). And to top it off he uses big wurds dat hert my bran he speaks rather, well, verbosely. Come to think of it, you actually remind me alot of Double D from Ed Edd n' Eddy.

So I'm back from several nights of constant partying in Auckland. And I would like to state that; No, I did not vomit all over the public streets of Auckland. Thank you for your concern Phoneix

I did however vomit. But that's another subject. Now that I'm back to my own PC it's time for Pony once again.

@Last pages

I seemed to have missed lots of excellent TL;DR. Especially from Verbose and Twins. I especially wanted to say something about the article that Verbose posted and how it ignores the fact that the fandom is widespread across the world, has a deep impact on area's where Terrorism is a non-issue and spawned independently of US incidents. But what needs to be said on that subject has been said I guess.

@Discussion topic

Moving onto a real pony discussion I see? Which pony are you?

We haven't had a discussion like that in ages! Oh, boy!

So…perhaps I can start by addressing this:

That old test depicted me as being a cross between Pinkie and Twilight, but in this discussion we are moving away from quiz results and just stating our own observations. Here's what I personally think:

Pinkie = I could be somewhat like her. I'm positive, I'm an optimist. I may not be really funny and entertaining but I try my best to be. I never want to be a bore. I always want to make the most of things. I'm rarely confrontational. Sure I have had my negative moments, like the Derpy controversy but so has Pinkie. However, like Pinkie, we both get over our problems quickly. Although I'm nowhere near as social so that counts against her.

Twilight = Being Twilight assumes intelligence, rationality, level-headedness and wisdom. These are factors which I am too modest to apply to myself so lets move on to Applejack

Applejack = As I mentioned; modesty. But then again my ethics never come close to AJ's serious melancholy. AJ is the kind of character that never screws around and I, as many are aware, constantly screw around. I'm simply not the hardworker she is so that rules out AJ…lets move on

Fluttershy = Fluttershy I can relate towards to some degree. She is quiet and contained and so am I. Fluttershy has trouble both fitting in and standing out. Further more, I always feel like I have a strong feminine side or a real soft spot. As if there is a cute and cuddly side of me which is locked inside of my cold hard sci-fi/grimdark nerd exterior. Fluttershy reflects that side of me in some ways. Then again I'm not terrified of absolutely everything, so Fluttershy is close but not quite…lets keep looking.

Rarity = Classy, fashionable, trendy and popular I am most certainly not.

Dash = Again, no. This is something that pony personality test captured correctly. As much as I like RD, I am nothing like her in every way. No kidding. Everything she is, I am not.

Berry Punch = BINGO! We love getting drunk! Both of us even stumble onto this forum and leave drunken comments. We can both be rash, rude and unintelligible but when sober, behave in the exact opposite. We are both bad influences to other people we know thanks to our love for late night clubbing and pub crawling. We also have friends who are in turn a bad influence on us and keep dragging us to alcohol fuels social events.

And lastly how many pieces of furniture have we broken between us? Quite a few I imagine.

I'll leave it at that. I am most likely like Berry Punch. (Connor will probably hate me for this)

As for everyone else, I agree with what has already been said.

I think it's rather realistic, you can't depend on someone being what you expect them 100% of the time.

For example, Verbose is well known for…verbosity WHICH SHOULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH ME! YES I STILL JELLY! but even he has times when he just isn't in the mood for long responses and keeps it brief.

Same goes for real life people and characters in the show, Twilight is organized to a fault but she does go crazy when a plan doesn't come together (Lesson Zero), Applejack lies when she has to despite being the Element of Honesty (Last Roundup/Party of One), Rainbow Dash can be a complete jerk at times (-every episode ever- Mare-Do-Well, Read 'em and Weep, Ticket Master) and even Fluttershy can be assertive when she needs to (Stare Master, Dragonshy), Pinkie Pie being the Element of Laughter doesn't mean she can't be sad and depressed. (Party of One)

It is a mistake to categorize people in tiny organized little boxes that they can never deviate from, THE SOUL MUST RUN FREE!

Also, have a random image so people don't skip my post when scrolling down:

I think its very simple, just take a random (nice and cute) picture and post it. Or picture and contribute to discussion about ponies.

For now, have this: I actually laughed out loud when I saw it
