Background
In 2001, Microsoft released the Xbox gaming system to the public. Due to the system (and the system’s controller’s) large and bulky appearance, esp. compared to the relatively slim PS2 and the small, sturdy GameCube, it soon became an synonym for large.
Thus, the term HUEG LIKE XBOX or XBOX HUEG became a popular way to describe ridiculously large things.
Spread
Soon, photoshops of the system were spread around the intern3ts far and wide. HUEG LIKE XBOX even made an appearance in the famous 4chan flash 4chan City: Craptastrophe (a popular spinoff of 2chan’s original flash) where m00t and Desu fight atop a gargantuan, towering Xbox.
It also was referenced in webcomic Penny Arcade
Usage
HUEG LIKE XBOX is used in many ways; with image macros, the Xbox is a larger than life entity, often towering over the POV (or even crashing into the Earth, lol) As a phrase, it is used as a loosely-applied adjective; i.e.
“Zomg, this burrito r Hueg like xbox!!!!!11”
Even though HUEG LIKE XBOX has appeared in a wide range of image macros and YTMND’s, it is rarely used today, as the memory of the monstrosity sinks back in time as smaller, sleeker consoles come into play.
However, HUEG LIKE XBOX will always be here to remind future generations of how ridiculously large gaming consoles used to be.
