The original Keyboard Cat video was created by performance artist Charlie Schmidt and uploaded to Youtube on June 7th, 2007.
In 2009 Brad O'Farrell produced the first "Play Him Off, Keyboard Cat" mashup, which uses Schmidt's 'cool cat' video as a comedic parachute for a particularly nasty fail.
