Sir Gideon Ofnir, The All-Knowing is a character in the 2022 RPG Elden Ring who for most of the game gives information to the player in the central hub. The character is given a notable introduction in the game's opening as the narrator bellows his name. This led fans of Elden Ring to make parodies of his introduction, as well as various memes related to him being supposedly "all-knowing."

Origin

In the intro to Elden Ring, the narrator calls several "Tarnished" to arise, including the "Loathsome Dung Eater" and "Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing!" (shown below). The narrator calls Ofnir with notable enthusiasm.

One of the earliest known memes centered around Ofnir was posted on March 6th, 2022, in the /r/EldenRing^[1] subreddit by Redditor 1stThrowawayDave, depicting Ofnir as Gigachad and gaining over 40 points in two years (shown below).

The narrator's introduction of Ofnir inspired several remixes on YouTube. This may have been inspired by Game Grumps' playthrough of Elden Ring. Upon hearing the line in the first episode of their playthrough, the hosts Arin and Dan tell jokes about the line delivery for several minutes.^[4] The video gained over 1.1 million views in nearly two years (shown below).

For example, on June 1st, 2022, YouTuber Misha Kastrilevich^[2] posted a remix of the game's introduction that replaced all the characters with Ofnir, gaining over 72,000 views in a year and a half (shown below, left). On April 25th, YouTuber M4UR1C10 MVA^[3] posted an edit that paired the line read with a still from SpongeBob SquarePants, gaining over 168,000 views in nearly two years (shown below, right).

Additionally, one of Ofnir's later monologues inspired remixes on YouTube. For example, on April 18th, 2022, YouTuber Sir Bruhh posted a Babe Please Stop edit with the monologue, gaining over 111,000 likes in nearly two years (shown below, left). On March 13th, 2023, YouTuber Nycto posted a parody in which Ofnir insults the player, gaining over 270,000 views in one year (shown below, right).
