History

The game was originally released as a total conversion mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 on July 1st 2005 by Alex Quick on ModDB[3]. The game was then re-released on Steam by Tripwire Interactive[4]. Due to the popularity of the game, it managed to sell over 3 million copies on Steam by December 2014, as announced by Tripwire Interactive at the Playstation Experience event[5]. It also received a sequel, Killing Floor 2, which was released in an "Early Access" state on Steam on April 21st 2015[6].

The game has developed a following on multiple sites, such as Tumblr[7] and 4chan[8]. It has its own sub-reddit[9] which has a little over 16 000 readers. There are over 30 000 search results for Killing Floor on DeviantArt, although not all of them are related to the game[10]. In the online FPS (first-person shooter) game Team Fortress 2, a crossover promotional item was released on December 14th 2010 for the Pyro, a headwear cosmetic called the "Foster's Facade", referencing the character "Mr. Foster" from the game[11]. Loadsamoney

EmoNe LoDs

Loadsamoney is a term associated with Harry Enfield's character called "Loadsamoney", created by Enfield for a skit. Due to the Cockney voice-acting of the characters and references to the "Loadsamoney" skit via character lines[12], an expy of the character was released as DLC for the game, called Harold Lott[13].

I am Welding This Door / I AM WELDING THIS DOAH

A memorable quote uttered by one of the voice actors in Killing Floor while wielding a door, it's remembered due to the Cockney-accented pronunciation of the word "door" and is often used for comedic effect in Killing Floor videos relating to door-welding in-game.
