Every once in a while, an internet slang term comes around that takes over social media. In 2021, that phrase was submissive and breedable, and two years later, it still hasn't died. But where does "submissive and breedable" come from and what does it mean? Here's what you need to know.

What Does 'Submissive and Breedable' Mean?

The term "submissive and breedable" was first used on Twitter on June 23rd, 2021 by user @T4RIG, writing, "normalize 👏 platonically 👏 telling 👏 your 👏 bros 👏 they 👏 look 👏 submissive 👏and 👏 breedable 👏." The post went viral, garnering over 83,000 likes in two years and quickly inspiring memes. But what does it mean?

Essentially, submissive and breedable is meant to be an absurd, funny term of endearment, especially when used towards men, who might not particularly take the terms "submissive" or "breedable" as compliments in a traditional sense. It's often used in the LGBTQ+ community and towards more effeminite men, including femboys like F1nnster, to compliment them on looking, well, submissive and breedable.

How Is 'Submissive and Breedable' Used In Memes?

Since going viral in 2021, the term has been attached to memes including image macros and video edits as a funny term of endearment. It is often used in tandem with male characters or people, or as part of the sentence "normalize platonically telling your bros they look submissive and breedable."

Beyond traditional memes, the phrase is also used conversationally in the same way, as an absurd term of endearment towards men. Sometimes it's paired with the term "oomfie", meaning "one of my followers." So, if you're a man and someone calls you submissive and breedable, don't take offense. It's a compliment!
