Back in 2016, the Huffington Post created a headline that would set us on the path leading to today. What was a simple headline signaling "It's Over" would create several spinoffs over the next seven years, eventually bringing us to today. But what does an old headline about Trump have to do with a current meme that references Barack Obama?

Where Does "We're Back" Come From?

In an age where anything bad happening can quickly diminish your hope, loudly proclaiming "It's Over" at even the smallest minor inconvenience became the norm on social media. As with all things online, however, a counter began to appear. Whenever something bad happened, such as the announcement of a Five Nights At Freddy's Movie, that would lead to people declaring that it's over, good news such as Matthew Lillard being cast in it would also cause people to post "We're Back" to signal that the hype has officially returned.

Why Has The Phrase Turned Into "We're Barack"?

After Joe Biden started to get used in more memes as his presidency went on, people began to notice that the It's Joever meme format, which was a direct play off of the much earlier "It's Over" had an equally appropriate response using his Democrat predecessor Barack Obama.

How Do You Use "We're Barack"?

The easiest way to understand using "We're Barack / We're so Barack" is to imagine you're at a store. You're at the store trying to buy a pair of shoes, and when you ask for a specific one the worker says that they can't find it in stock. When you decide to settle on a different pair and the worker goes to the back to grab it, they come back saying that they found the shoe you originally came in for. That moment of having a defeat, no matter how small or large, being immediately flipped back into a Big W for your is when you would use "We're Barack."
