What Is 'Bench Tails?' We Explain What Might Be The Internet's Worst Image
He sits on a park bench, his eyes vacant as they fall across Cream the Rabbit, drawn as a baby, alongside another blue rabbit in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Cream and her friend are playing in a sandbox, and Tails is about to approach them.
This is the image at the heart of Bench Tails, a SFW panel of what is one of the most infamously NSFW webcomics of all time. You may have seen it before and wondered why it's significant. I have the awful job of explaining it for you so you don't go finding out for yourself, as I once did on a dark day four years ago.
What Is Bench Tails?
"Bench Tails" is the colloquial name for the first panel from the webcomic "Two Babies One Fox," posted to Inkbunny in April of 2013. The comic was written by a user named Unistar and drawn by an artist named Launny.
As you may surmise by the syntax of the title, ever-so-similar to those of famous pieces of shock media history like 2 Girls 1 Cup and 1 Guy One Jar, "Two Babies One Fox" is not fit for human eyes.
I'm going to put this bluntly so you know why you should not seek this out: in the comic, Tails has graphic sex with two young children and forces them to defecate on each other, then eat it.
Why Did Bench Tails Become Popular?
Similar to shock sites, "Two Babies One Fox" spread through darker corners of the web like 4chan, disgusting all who came across it. It soon became so infamous that all one had to do to trigger a gag reflex was post the comic's first image: Tails, sitting on the bench, horrible plans in his mind.
It began being used as a forum weapon in 2014, as 4chan users there would simply post the image of "Bench Tails" to elicit gags and horror from fellow posters.
As the image became popular, the memes followed, and soon photoshops featuring Bench Tails in all sorts of areas spread on social media.
Where Is Bench Tails Today?
Luckily, it's rare to see Bench Tails in the wild nowadays, as it's now a piece of online lore so deeply buried that only real ones remember that dark era of the internet. Still, it's best to know what it is and where it comes from, lest you stumble across that soulless Tails one day and wonder what this horrible creation is.
Trust me, you don't want to know.
