A disturbing old Urban Dictionary slang term is going viral on TikTok right now, and it's seemingly shocking every user who comes across it.

The so-called "bull rider pose", which even appears in the TV series Dexter, is being equated to assault and women are expressing their concerns over its very existence.

What Is The 'Bull Rider Pose?'

In August 2006, an Urban Dictionary user defined the term "bull ride," which would later spread under several names, such as the "bull rider pose," "bull riding pose," "breakup pose" and "the bronco."

The definition claims that the "bull rider pose" is an intimate position in which a man performs coitus with a woman from behind and then whispers the wrong woman's name in her ear. This is meant to make the woman try and escape the man, who then attempts to continue being intimate with her despite her struggles, comparable to a bull rider trying to stay on a bull.

The position was notably referenced in a November 2006 episode of Dexter as "the bronco," but was largely forgotten about in the years following, until it suddenly resurfaced on TikTok in 2024.

How Is TikTok Reacting To The 'Bull Rider Pose?'

In October 2024, TikToker @local.tism posted a video drawing renewed attention to the purported position, captioned, "My friend just told me about the bull rider position and I would start a physical fight if a guy did this." The video gained over 9 million views in around two weeks and got other users wondering exactly what the bull rider position is.

Since then, several other TikTokers have posted videos expressing their shock over the position. Most can't believe anyone would actually do this and are equating the position to assault, using the "grape" Emoji as a form of algospeak to reference the specific act and avoid censorship on TikTok.
