TikTok has banned a lot of sneaky, spicy trends over the past few years, from the notorious foopah trend to the wild 777 filters trend. Now, the new nails trend is going viral across the app as other users call it out. What's most surprising is that the trend got started all the way back in 2021 and is still somehow showing up on FYPs worldwide! Here's what you need to know.

What Is The 'New Nails' Trend?

In 2021, a TikToker posted a seemingly innocent video where she shows her new set of nails to the camera. The video gained millions of views over the next three years. While it may seem harmless at first, the video takes a spicy turn after you realize that she's showing her nails off above her boyfriend's sweatpants and using the nails as an excuse to show off and touch his intimate parts.

Since then, dozens of these videos, most of them set to "White Tee" by Summer Walker, have gone viral on TikTok. One of the most popular examples even boasts over 20 million views, marking a bafflingly popular trend that has mostly fallen under the radar for years.

How Is The 'New Nails' Trend Allowed On TikTok?

TikTok has strict guidelines that prohibit activities like this on the app. While users can often get away with thirst trapping and more subtle spicy content, the new nails trend is often not too subtle at all if you watch the videos for longer than a second. This has led many TikTokers to wonder, "How is this allowed?"

Unfortunately, we're not sure why the trend is still allowed on the app. Sometimes it takes a while for TikTok to start moderating these trends, such as in the case of the infamous December 22nd incident. It's possible that TikTok simply wasn't aware of the popularity of the trend at first, but now, as big creators like Noah Glenn Carter call it out, it's likely we could see it get banned in the coming weeks.
