Bait-and-switch memes often go viral online and since 2021, a particularly controversial one featuring a Lego Beerus figure has been popping up across all corners of social media. The Dragon Ball meme has been edited dozens of times to feature Beerus saying something funny, but what does he say in the original video? Here's what you need to know.

What Is The 'Lego Beerus' Meme?

Back in October 2021, a TikToker uploaded a video consisting of a simple photograph of a bootleg Lego figure. The figure depicts Beerus from the Dragon Ball series staring forward. The video also features a very problematic voiceover, in which Lego Beerus makes racist remarks towards Black people.

Despite the racism, the shocking meme went viral on sites like TikTok and Reddit. Now, a few years later, the Lego Beerus meme has gained a cult status online, to the point where many can't see the image of Lego Beerus without immediately thinking about and making reference to the meme.

How Is 'Lego Beerus' Used In Memes?

While the original version of the meme remains popular online, it has also been transformed numerous times throughout the 2020s by users turning it into something of an exploitable bait-and-switch format, where users expect to hear the original audio and are instead met with something else. These memes take the original format and alter the parts where Beerus makes racist remarks to have him say something more funny or wholesome.

Some popular examples of the meme include a Christmas version where Beerus says he doesn't like Grinches and a version where he talks about how much he likes his friends. The original meme is also often referenced with little-to-no context in image macros, goading the unsuspecting to look it up.
