Lego Beerus refers to a series of memes based on a viral video in which a low-resolution image of a bootleg Lego Beerus figure from Dragon Ball is shown making racist remarks against Black people. The video was uploaded to TikTok as early as 2021 and went viral over the following years, inspiring further edits where Beerus says different phrases, bait and switching viewers.

Origin

Sometime on or prior to October 2nd, 2021, now-deleted TikToker @creamydaddy_.4 posted a video of a low-resolution Beerus bootleg Lego figure, likely a figure sold by Shopee^[1] and HeroBloks^[8] in which he makes racist remarks, saying, "Hmm, it seems you're a n---er. I don't really like n---ers all that much. Whis, get the n---er killer." The video was reposted to /r/ksi^[2] on October 2nd, 2021, garnering over 120 upvotes in just over two years (shown below).

Spread

The meme became increasingly popular over the following years, inspiring new variations and memes referencing the original. On December 9th, 2023, TikToker^[3] @@.bubblegumcrisis postd a jollyposting version of the meme, garnering over 40,000 views in a month (shown below, left). On January 27th, 2024, TikToker^[4] @edgyketchups_ posted a "friendly version" of the meme, garnering over 200,000 views in three days (shown below, right).

On January 28th, X^[5] user @Extralongdokkan began posting Lego Beerus memes. On January 29th, the user posted an image macro to X^[6] referencing the original video, garnering over 33,000 likes in two days (shown below, left). Later that day, the same X^[7] user posted another version of the meme that gained over 40,000 likes in the same span of time (shown below, right).
