What Is the 'Want a Macaron' Meme? Crude Drawings on TikTok Asking If You 'Want a Taco?' or 'Want a Hotdog?' Explained

A new wave of absurd food-based drawings is taking over TikTok, with users encountering a questionably dressed chef asking if you want a treat, only to have camouflaged their nether regions into the spread.
The crudely drawn food-based innuendos are often captioned, "Want a macaron?" or "Want a taco?" when the chef is female, and "Want a hot dog?" to fit a male chef's possible offerings.

The low-effort meme was initially inspired by the artwork of an Australian comic artist, but has since devolved into people trying to insert the raunchiest chef's table offerings that TikTok would allow.
Here's a look at the origin of the "Want a Macaron?" image, and how it spread online in recent weeks.
Where Did the 'Want a Macaron' Drawing Originate?
The image that kicked off the trend was drawn in 2021 by Australian comic artist David the Robot and posted to his private Instagram account, @davidtherobot. It depicts a woman in a chef's hat and blue T-shirt, holding a tray of macarons at hip level.
Camouflaged among the cookies is her visible pubic region, positioned to match the rest of the display without much attempt at subtlety.

The color pencil drawing had the rough, silly vibe of something doodled in a high school notebook, and it remained relatively obscure until April 25th, 2021, when a version of it was reposted to 9GAG by user @9GAGGER. That post gathered around 500 upvotes and helped kickstart its presence outside of Instagram.
How Did the 'Want a Macaroon' Meme Spread Online?
The meme slowly reentered circulation through Instagram reposts. On July 12th, 2021, Instagram user @thetinderblog shared a version that overlaid a caption about "not acting too desperate" around your crush. That version, originally from @taxo, went on to receive more than 90,000 likes over the next few years.

Thanks to TikTok's appetite for low-effort shock value, an updated version of the meme began making the rounds on the app's slideshow function in May 2025.
On May 13th, TikToker @wobblywobblewawobblewob uploaded a fresh redrawing of the original "macaron" chef. The post racked up 1.5 million likes in under a week, introducing the joke to a new audience and setting off a slew of food-based innuendo comics.
What Is the 'Want a Hotdog' Drawing?
Not to be outdone by the original macaron lady, TikToker @olamwami posted a variation on May 17, 2025, titled "Want a Hot Dog?" This version featured a male chef holding a tray of hot dogs, with one noticeably not made of pork or chicken. The post was shared widely and reached over 23,000 likes in two days.

This version kicked off the "Want a treat" meme trend, turning it from a one-off pun to an ongoing visual gag.
What Is the 'Want a Taco' Meme, and What Are Other Variations of the Meme?
Once the format was established, the floodgates opened. On May 18th, 2025, TikToker @want_a posted a version of the meme titled, "Want a Donut?"
This variation features the same female chef, this time topless and offering a tray of donuts with her breasts arranged among the pastries. That version went on to earn over 527,000 likes in a single day.

Also on May 18th, X user @kenmiaouh_64 shared both the macaron and hotdog images with a caption requesting similar submissions, gathering over 11,000 likes

TikToker @thefatgluttonousking posted a collage video the same day, using the snowclone “Want a ____?” as a format for showcasing multiple entries, gathering over 231,000 likes in a day.
