What's The 'Its Pride Month' Copypasta? The 'It's 'June' Which Mean It's Illegal To Be Straight' Meme Explained

It has been a week since the LGBTQ+ Pride Month started and, with it, declaring being a heterosexual during this month is illegal and, if found, could lead to jail time and an immediate report to the FBI. All of these claims are part of the "Its Fucking Pride Month" copypasta, which resurfaces every year during the queer month celebrations.

Where's The 'Its Fucking Pride Month' Copypasta From?

A year before the "Its Fucking Pride Month" copypasta was created Redditor @eGGsY posted the earliest known version of the "It's June Which Mean It's Illegal to Be Straight" meme (below, left) on June 11th, 2018, which features Pikachu holding the LGBTQ+ flag and the text "It's June which mean it's illegal to be straight. Anyone caught not being a GAY will be immediately reported to the FBI. Assexuals are OK but Y'all are on thin fucking ice."

Part of @eGGsY's meme was later then turned into the viral "Its Fucking Pride Month" copypasta meme by Redditor @Doughie_, who posted the complete text to the /r/copypasta subreddit (below, right). The paragraph is filled with emojis alleging that during June "you're not allowed to be straight" and "until the 1st of July all [heterosexuals] shall be persecuted by law."

How Is The 'Its Fucking Pride Month' Copypasta Used Online?

The paragraph gained viral spread as a copypasta over the following years, often resurfacing around the beginning of June each year and the remaining days of the month during LGBTQ+ Pride Month. The copypasta is often used humorously to make fun of heterosexuals and also in posts celebrating queer culture.

For example, on June 1st, 2024, X user @snoopybakery posted the viral "Be Who You Are For Your Pride" video (seen below) accompanied by the "Its Fucking Pride Month" copypasta. The post received roughly 600 views and 13 likes in four days.
