What's The 'Sharingan Killer They Call Me Naruto' Meme? The Cringe YouTuber Struck By Rapper Ren's 'Naruto Reference' Explained

A YouTuber named AnthonyRay posted a reaction video recently, and TikTok is clowning him because of his "weeaboo" tangent after hearing a Naruto reference in the lyric, "Sharingan Killer They Call Me Naruto."
The clip is getting the brainrot treatment on the platform as users add absurd CapCut effects, transcribe his monologue into a copypasta and use the viral audio for so-called "JuggTok" purposes.
If you've seen the memes already, then you already know what we're talking about. But how did we get here?
Why is this "Sharingan Killer They Call Me Naruto" meme trending and where is the original video? Let's explain.

What Is The 'Sharingan Killer They Call Me Naruto' Song?
The song in question is called "Down On The Beat" by Welsh rapper Ren. Its lyrics video was first shared on YouTube in August 2023. The now infamous lyric, "Sharingan killer, they call me Naruto," is uttered at the 1:04-minute mark.
What Is The Original 'Sharingan Killer They Call Me Naruto' Video?
The YouTuber in question is named AnthonyRay, or AR for short. He mostly reacts to rap music on his channel. Some of his most viral videos are about rap songs from other countries outside of America. One of his most viewed uploads is about the song "Big Dawgs" by Indian rapper Hanumankind.
AnthonyRay has a lot of videos, but none of them are about Ren's "Down On The Beat." It was obviously up on his account at some point, but it's unclear when or why it was removed.
The video was first reposted two weeks ago by TikToker @mortzort1. The repost is what made the clip go viral, inspiring all of the later memes.

What Is The 'Sharingan Killer They Call Me Naruto' Meme?
After the video was reshared on TikTok, viral use of its sound persisted on the app. People started sharing JuggTok videos with it — a new genre of memes characterized by walls of text and squished, background videos. In this case, many of the originals showed NBA highlights.
The long captions relayed AnthonyRay's quotes with classic JuggTok symbols sprinkled in, like the Dead Rose Emoji.

Eventually, the trend spread outside of JuggTok circles and received the "brainrot" treatment. CapCut effects like flame explosions and laser eyes, like the ones popularized by TikToker Cookie King and the Eye of Rah meme, were applied to AnthonyRay's clip.
The aesthetic further devolved the meme, adding to the widely held perception that the YouTuber was being cringe. The memes labeled AnthonyRay a "weeaboo," a term for an overly obsessed anime and manga fan who's not Japanese.
In the video, AnthonyRay starts speaking in an exaggerated Japanese accent. The humming of his silent room fills the awkward void.

The "rap" element makes the meme similar to other recent trends about mocking cringeworthy bars, like "Shi is Bubonic" and "I Like to Cuss Like I Was Raised in a Barn."
In this case, though, the cringe factor is more about the fan of so-called "coworker music" — that being Mr. AnthonyRay.
