Why Are There So Many 'Eight Crazy Nights' Poster Memes? The Unseasonable Meme Explained

Throughout September so far, social media has been inundated with memes surrounding a popular IP. Given that there was a Nintendo Direct at the end of August, one might think that the meme might center around Super Mario Bros. Wonder, but that's not the case. Instead, memers have focused their attention on Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights.

What Are Eight Crazy Nights Poster Parody Memes?

On September 4th, 2023, the Twitter account @NoContextEnter tweeted the poster of Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights with the title removed, leaving behind a big blank snowball for users to fill in alternative "titles."

It's unclear what prompted the post, but in the replies, users gamely played along, adding memes and funny "titles" to the template.

However, it didn't take long for things to start getting really creative, as more elaborate variations, including full redraws editing the poster to fit other franchises, began appearing on social media.

Why Are Eight Crazy Nights Posters A Meme Now?

As we're still months away from Hanukkah, it's unclear why an animated holiday movie from 2002, one that isn't necessarily beloved, has resurfaced in meme culture. However, the reclamation of nostalgic and nearly-forgotten media for memes isn't uncommon. Recently, there have been memes made from 2010s fever dream The Garfield Show, Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian and Madagascar.

Eight Crazy Nights may not be the most obvious source of a hot meme, particularly in September, but it's not a particularly surprising one either, especially when the meme is more of a humorous art challenge than a Hannukah-themed meme.
