And the meme of July 2021 goes to…

Nothing Stronger Than Family was a meme that started strong right out of the gate, dominating everyone's feeds in early July 2021. And while Dominic Toretto and his strong belief in the importance of family seemingly disappeared just as quickly as it appeared, it left a lasting impression that helped the format take gold in the July 2021 meme-lympics with 24 percent of the votes.

Joker's Prank Calls

Just short of first place with 23 percent of the votes, we have Joker, his prank calls and his many redraws. A format in which Joker devilishly asks everyone to deviate from their routine with clever wordplay started on Tumblr in March but became a hit on Twitter several months later, with talented artists delivering redraws and talented voice actors being quick to voice them.

Apu Spills His Tendies

In third place with 14 percent of the votes, we have another format that first appeared months earlier but took its time to reach its peak in Apu Spills His Tendies. Starting with a reaction image of Apu Apustaja getting bullied, the format unleashed its full potential after getting expanded with a second panel revealing his bully. Both object labeling and great redraws that we saw in July were what gave Apu the fuel to get a well-deserved bronze medal.

Shroomjak

Bringing home fourth place with 11 percent of the votes, Shroomjak has a lot to be proud of. By subverting the jokes we came to expect of Wojak comics in the past year, this post-ironic Wojak brought a fresh way to parody the genre that's been going stale, inviting more parody memes such as Bearjak and Who Need They Pussy Ate.

I Forgor 💀

After last month's Bogos Binted reminded everyone how strong intentional misspelling can be in Zoomer meta, I Forgor💀 became the next runner in this relay race, matching the impressive result of its predecessor. A spam comment with great potential for advanced shitposting, I Forgor 💀 came in fifth place this month with seven percent of the votes.

In places six to 10, we have subversive "when you see it" format Where's Goku (6%), the hottest ship of the month in MordeTwi (6%), best new phrase to compliment your homies with in Submissive and Breedable (5%), another older format to become a popular redraw reference in Two Soyjaks Pointing (3%) and a normie meme gone post-ironic in Who Need They Pussy Ate (2%).
