An indie game featuring an anthropomorphic bunny-goat-hybrid character has grown to become a sleeper hit after winning the Metroidvania Month 19 Jam in March 2023. The game is called Pseudoregalia and it was developed by indie game developer Rittzler. Here's everything you need to know about the 3D platform game that has gathered over 1,000 favorable Steam reviews in just a few weeks since it went live.

Who Made 'Pseudoregalia' And What Is It About?

Independent game developer Rittzler used Itch.io to host a video game as part of a challenge issued by Falcon Nova. The challenge was to make a game inspired by the map-exploration and platform style of games like Hollow Knight. Rittzler took the month to make the prototype of his game Pseudoregalia, posting a gameplay video on YouTube in March 2023.

Rittzler won the video game challenge hosted on Itch.io, and took the initiative to develop the demo into a longer extended game, which he published on Steam in late July 2023.

What Do Gamers Think About 'Pseudoregalia'?

The game has cultivated a niche following on the internet in the weeks since its release, with YouTubers like Zhain Gaming, atsuover and Noisy Pixel posting walkthroughs of the game and gathering several thousand views.

A popular point of discussion with regard to the game is its lead character, a bunny-goat sword-wielding hybrid named Sybil. The protagonist has gathered an avid fanbase in just a few months, inspiring fan art on Tumblr, X, and other parts of the internet.
