Basketball player LiAngelo Ball, also known as "Gelo," may still be in the NBA G League, but he's been making money moves in the music scene in recent weeks as he's become a viral topic of discussion online.

Everyone from the Chicago Bulls to the Detroit Lions has been bumping his latest track "Tweaker," a song so reminiscent of the 2010s Y2K rap sound that you almost expect to hear a Nelly feature midway.

Gelo is the middle child of former athletes LaVar and Tina Ball, with his brothers LaMelo and Lonzo Ball currently playing for the Charlotte Hornets and the Chicago Bulls. Gelo's been biding out his time before he qualifies for the NBA in the G League and the Lithuanian Basketball League, but he may have found his calling in the form of a song that he is set to perform at Rolling Loud this year.

Here's a recap of how LiAngelo's "I Might Swerve Bend That Corner Whoa" became the first major hit song of 2025.

Who Is LiAngelo Ball and What's Up With His Song 'Tweaker'?

LiAngelo Ball is an NBA minor league athlete who currently plays for the Greensboro Swarm after briefly signing with the Detroit Pistons in 2020. LiAngelo is best known for being part of the Ball family, headed by former athletes Tina and LaVar Ball.

The Balls are now media personalities that run the fashion line Big Baller Brand and also had a dedicated Facebook Watch reality show called Ball in the Family.

But in 2025, it seems like the middle "Baller" has finally gotten his breakout hit. On December 30th, 2024, LiAngelo debuted his track "Tweaker" on a N3on Kick stream of all placed on December 30th, 2024, with the song quickly going viral across the country the following week.

Ball dropped the full track on World Star Hip Hop's YouTube channel under the name G3 the following week, quickly racking up over 6 million views in just a week.

How Did People React To G3's Song 'Tweaker' When The Snippet First Dropped?

LiAngelo Ball's track "Tweaker" features the catchy hook, "I might swerve bend that corner (whoa)," a line that has been quoted to the moon and back since his snippet dropped on the N3on stream in 2024.

People began sharing videos of 2010s rap videos and overlaying Gelo's snippet to create the right atmosphere for the song, with X user @MichaelWalchalk posting a video of a CD with the track written on it, and X user @sixthmanjake sharing an old photo of Joe Mazulla to joke about how much of a throwback the song's rhythm is.

What Song Did The Line 'I Might Swerve Bend That Corner Whoa' Come From?

After Gelo officially dropped the full song on January 3rd, 2025, it became nearly inescapable in both NBA and NFL circles. Detroit Lions player Amon-Ra St. Brown posted a video to his Instagram Story on January 5th, showing him and his NFL teammates jamming to the song in their locker room.

A few days later, South Carolina Women’s Basketball head coach Dawn Staley posted a video dancing to the song on her Instagram @staley05, showing her and her players taking a break mid-practice to dance to the track

Even cable news was getting in on the "Tweaker" hype, with a weather reporter on West Virginia news channel WSAZ quoting the song while gesturing to an icy road, saying, "You might swerve bend the corner whoa."
