About

Rangesh Mutama or N3on, also written Neon or N3ON, is an Indian-American YouTuber and Kick streamer who originally played Fortnite and NBA 2K in the late 2010s. Going into the 2020s, N3on gained increased engagement and later moved to the streaming platform Kick. Throughout his career, N3on gained infamy due to controversies, such as him faking his own death in 2019. He also gained a reputation for being toxic, resembled by his habit of raging. His toxicity then resulted in viral moments where influencers and other people would meet him in real life and confront him for what he said online. In 2023, a video of N3on getting jumped went viral as well as clips of Fousey confronting him.

Online History

N3on's online presence started on YouTube in 2016, when he uploaded his first YouTube[1] video on October 17th, 2016, an NBA 2K17-related video. It received roughly 55,800 views in seven years (shown below, left). Over the next three years, N3on's YouTube channel received low engagement with his videos receiving less than 1,000 views each. This changed in 2019, when he started "raging" more in his videos and calling himself "Ronnie2K's son" in reference to the NBA 2K streamer Ronnie 2K. This culminated in a May 1st, 2019, YouTube[2] video that received roughly 243,500 views in four years (shown below, right).

Fake Death Controversy

Starting in late 2019, N3on started posting videos that read like clickbait, using hyperbolic titles and thumbnails that didn't equate to the video's actual contents. Alternatively, the videos were seemingly staged, such as a YouTube[3] video he posted on October 29th, 2019, called "YOU GUYS WILL NOT BE SEEING N3ON ANYMORE…" in which he claimed that his parents were going to put him in a mental hospital for raging. The video also featured N3on's younger brother. In four years, the video received roughly 2.4 million views (shown below).

On December 21st, 2019, N3on posted a video (since deleted) called "N3on Is Dying…" which was allegedly uploaded by his younger brother who wanted to tell his subscribers that N3on had a brain tumor and was at the hospital in critical condition. N3on's channel then posted a series of three videos, all of which have since been deleted, called "N3on's Final Words…" "He's Gone… (R.I.P)" and "I'm Alive," in which he died from the alleged tumor and then came back to life.

Soon after the upload of his "I'm Alive" video, various YouTubers with large followings covered the story, such as YouTuber[4] JT on January 3rd, 2020, gaining roughly 2.7 million views in three years (shown below, left). On January 13th, 2020, YouTuber[5] SoLLUMINATI covered N3on's hoax in a video, gaining roughly 1.3 million views (shown below, right).
