rip and tear my work, my bowsette drawings that aren't seemed to be welcomed

i've been getting downvoted like I'm the next palpitoad but in drawing form, and i don't know why

either vent out your frustrations on why you did so here, or tell me what i've done wrong with my drawing.
keep in mind that:
-it's my first time doing such a fan art, i've done nothing but draw my OCs for the past, years or so, minus the occasional squid sister.
-i have NO IDEA why my lines come out so shitty looking, and not silky smooth like the other artist
-the best way to tell me what you don't like about it, is TELLING ME what's wrong with it, and not just downvoting me, it doesn't translate to a critique.

if you got tips or advise on what brushes i should use, how should i move my hand while drawing on a tablet, or something, just let me know.

i await my destruction…

no one's going to roast you or your drawings, that'd just be rude.
the situation here is that there's a legion of horny people, i'm willing to bet teens, only looking to fap right now thanks this flood of various 'Ettes, they don't care about memes or giving criticism

but to give you some things you might want to think about;
-Are you using the chicken scratch technique? It might be worth practicing how to break that habit or at least learn how to erase any stray lines, I've been given advice saying that learning how to draw your lines quickly and accurately is better than being slow and meticulous.

-You have a good grasp on human anatomy, but now you gotta learn how to balance the figure. Bowsettes leg there for example is bulbous in the thigh and the flabby leg bit I can't figure the name of, but the knee is and the Achilles Tendon on the foot is very thin in comparison. Also, it might've been intentional that you made her hip ratio that dramatic, but it could be worth noting that not everyone will enjoy it.

-The right breast looks off, I don't draw breasts so I can't say much on that besides that the bottom line on that curve could can drawn farther down to make look like it isn't a foot away from the other breast. Consider getting some references, like fanart in a similar style you want yours to be, remember that it's not cheating for ripping off someone else if you want study someone else's technique.
There are many reference guide for things like eyes, lips, breasts, hands and perspective on places like Tumblr or Twitter, shit even Pixiv has an entire tag/category with galleries upon galleries of specific body parts to study from. You have the potential and willpower to advance yourself, you've proven that with your art, now use that passion positively.

thank you Artichoke, that's what i wanted to hear.

i did in fact made the lines to slowly. i tried the fast motion on another picture, but it still came off as rough. im not sure if it was the pixel size that made it look rough.

but i will look around the internet, and find anything on how to draw breasts correctly
i had this in mind while sketching her: but i didn't pull it up, so i might of done the complete opposite.

I felt bad and was going to give you a legitimate take on how to deal with criticism in art communities, but then I actually browsed your upload pages. What you're doing here is calling making things worse.

KYM is not a site for art critique. As such, users are not obligated to give you legitimate criticism, and you shouldn't expect it. You want art talk? Look in the art thread that's been active for years. Upvotes and Downvotes are extremely arbitrary measurements and people are free to hit whichever button they want. If they hit the down button, maybe they didn't like the piece (or maybe her knees being the size of her eyes bothers them). Either way, your responses:

It's not my fault that I can't make silky smooth lines, it's not my fault that my hands shake when I try to draw digitally, it's not my fault that I don't know how to make my art look spectacular as the others, I'm just starting, and this is how you repay me? With thumbs pointing way down?

I would appreciate it MORE if you took the time to actually CRITIQUE me on what I've done wrong, so that I can be BETTER, not just blindly downvote me because you just assume that I'm going to be the next Andrew dobson or something.

its my first time doing something like this, cut me some slack…
(i guess KYM ain't the place to show off my art, no way i'm stooping to tumblr, i aint going back to deviant art, and twitter isn't getting any traction, i have zero options now)

Could of left feedback saying what I done wrong, but nope, just went with, "I'LL DOWN VOTE IT CUS I WANT TO"

…Don't really do much beyond displaying your stunning lack of humility. People are allowed to downvote images they want to downvote. There's no onus for them to explain why or leave comments rationalizing their decisions. Nobody on KYM owes you anything, and this is something you need to take to heart if you're going to upload your own art here. The "It's not my fault that X" attitude isn't doing anything beyond telling your audience that you think you're entitled to either upvotes and nice comments.

Art tutorials for fixing those legs on my Patreon starting Nov. 1

Now that's a more reasonable lip size, but don't feel compelled to throw away exaggeration, it is possible to make it work well after all

you use SAI eh? i've thought about using it but i don't got the tablet or mouse to put it to use, would you recommend it?

oh and don't forget the most important thing: always remember to put being glad and content about your work above satisfying others, this hobby is about sitting down to relax and show off your creativity after all.

I'm really sorry to hear about this man. Sucks that you put your heart into a work and you're getting downboated just bc it's not using anime styles as a crutch to look good. I really hope this won't make you feel bad or demotivated.

I always loathe how KYM tends to rip into artists who are genuine. I've seen this happen before too. Such a fucking joke of a community.

Sometimes it bothers me when KYM just calls something bad just because it's not what they're into

It just kind of seems like some users don't like art that's not cute or hot, "if I can't fap to it, then it's bad". Those people need to learn to appreciate other kinds of art.

update: i'm not gonna rework on my bowestte drawing anymore. don't worry, that doesn't mean i'll quit, i'm just going to take the long tedious route of study drawing real life and other artworks until it becomes second nature.

-but, by that time, bowsette will be irrelevant, so i'll just draw some of my favorite fictional girls (like Marie or Samus, eta.)

Most people around here don't know much about art so they just can't help you. Downvotes are indeed tough to figure out so… don't. Anyone can hit that button for whatever reason so don't you worry about it.

I don't think complaining about haters and making excuses about your skills is the right way either. Some things on the internet just can't be helped. Just keep calm and carry on drawing.

But if it is upvotes that you want, I advise you to study the trending content and try to figure out why it's popular in the first place. I see that people generally like images that are:
- hot
- cute
- dank
- clever
- funny
- original

I think you put yourself at a disadvantage drawing a generic pin-up of a character that's been posted hundreds of times already. Like, check out this frontpaged Peter Griffin image. It's a fresh take on the meme, even if it isn't a masterpiece with meticulous linework and complex shading. And would you look at that – people liked it. I actually attempted something similar with that ThunderCats Roar thing but I got bored halfway through, as always.

You could also go for a simpler artstyle. I mean, I keep hearing that amateur artists should be less obsessed about details and just streamline their art for the time being. And it's not like a simplistic style can't be appealing. Actually, I dare say that vector images with flat colors and rudimentary shading are more popular here on KYM than elaborate, painterly pieces.

I mean, at the end of the day it's a meme dump, not a fine arts society. I bet a lot of kids are coming here to restock their lewd stashes now that the No Fap September is almost over.

Well, I kinda have to agree with "Doeoeod" with the fact that KYM isn't exactly a site for criticism and such, we kinda just upvote what we think it's funny, cute, interesting or lewd, and that's pretty much about it.

What I want to say is: don't take it too seriously, if somebody downvotes you because they don't like something, because… they don't like something and that's it, just ignore it, when people tell you stuff like "reduce lip size", "knee is too thin" "̶b̶o̶w̶s̶e̶r̶ ̶n̶e̶e̶d̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶g̶a̶y̶e̶r̶"̶, you should consider it, even then, you don't need to consider everything because you might like big lips, you might like thin knees, y̶o̶u̶ ̶m̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶h̶e̶l̶l̶a̶ ̶g̶a̶y̶ ̶b̶o̶w̶s̶e̶r̶, just consider things that you think are improvements for your artwork.

As for criticism, I think this looks "ok" at least, I kinda like it, maybe you could make things a bit brighter like the crown, face and the shell, I think the arms and hands could be a little bit bigger (it seems pretty small compared to the rest of the body) you seem that you reduced the lip size so that's good. Besides that, it isn't bad, it's kinda good.

If it makes you feel any better, downvotes also signify some degree of care from your viewers. I mean, they took the time to click on your image and then on the downvote button. They found it interesting for some reason, so you did something right. They could've just scrolled right past it. I think it sucks more when your submission gets ignored entirely, getting maybe 90 views after a week and no votes at all, up or down.

Also, people keep saying how their crappy MS Paint mashup they've thrown together in 5 minutes gets more glory than something they've put their soul into and slaved on for hours. I think, as far as memes are concerned, that we should economize our works. In other words: "half-ass" it just right so that you don't put more time into it than reasonable. Start small, with things that are easy to work with and likely to get views and upvotes. You'll be glad to see some appreciation, which will motivate you to keep improving.

And remember to enjoy yourself whenever you're drawing or posting. You're doing this for yourself first and your audience second.
