Turn 6, 730 AD

Map of the World

Events:

- Islam has taken the East by storm. A series of Byzantine-Arabic-Persian Wars have led to the formation of the massive Sufyanid Caliphate, and has richly upset the dominance of Christianity.

- Average Peasant Class, Average Working Class.

- Astoran militias fail to see any expansion. There is just not enough money going around just yet for a standing army to be established.
- An open library is established in the capital. Reading is not a popular pastime for the illiterate filthy masses, but is a great reference point for the occasional learned man.
- Guild-houses are built, and fair-economy becomes the Astoran norm.
- A holy text is written, the Book of the Sun, describing the ways one must praise the sun, and soon gives missionaries a solid reference for their preaching.

- The Anatolians commit to a large invasion/smear campaign against Foznia; Warbands ravage and pillage the land, while Schielion allies lay siege to Foznian cities. Resistance is low with the exception of a few skirmishes, in which the horse-bound Foznii have the advantage on the wide open landscape. Also, they say rude things about the Fozniis.

- Something secret happens. It has nothing to due with Amarjan Clandestine efforts I assure you.
- The Hunter-Warriors settle down to a sedentary life-style.
- Al Amarjians sent to assist the Dracons bring with them the pests of the Plague, which wreaks short-lived havoc at home.
- Education is made mandatory for Amarjian children. Protest is wide, and attendance remains extremely low, save for girls and the occasional adult.
- An interest in the Arts leads to the funding of theaters, which take on a natural form of bardic circles.

- Kalosi armies send the Lombards running to Italy, and lay claim to swathes of their former holds.
- Explorations to the North lead to contact with native Finns, who are annexed. Peacefully. At spear-point.
- "The Compendium", a library and archive of sorts, is established in the capital with the purpose of holding secular materials both practical and otherwise.
- The Plague manages to cause a not unnoticeable amount of chaos and death in Kalos, but soon subsides once more.

- One of many set on making "Lombard" a forgotten term, Authoria wins its final pitched battle, and the Lombards rout into Italy.
- Hops are grown, with the intent to make beer. It is a wild success and beer is made. Everyone is better for it. Probably.
- Large litters of Astoran dogs are bought and bred in Authoria. Man's best-friend is now also a ravenous frothing beast that is starved and beaten until it only knows pain and hatred so as to be a better weapon.
- The Plague hits Authoria relatively lightly, as most Lombards moved south, directly away from Authoria, and so the pests follow suit.

- Sachielia, assisted by the Anatolians, invade Foznia in force. They meet little open resistance, and soon set siege to East and the Capital, both reinforced for just such an event.
- Warlords openly share their wealth with the filthy peasants, and soon no one really questions being conscripted.
- A new treasury is started, this one better than the other one. This one has windows, so everyone can look and see all that cash money.
- Sachielia begins a breeding standard, focusing on warhorses for all things horse.

- The nobility of Arstotzka begin paying off oracles, holy-men, bone-readers, druids, and anyone else who is thought to have an ear for the gods. Such is that the word of god comes from a most different throat…
- Devices and weapons of Siege purpose are ordered in great number, and then put to no use. No one is sure why.
- Infrastructure becomes an interest of the "Theocracy". Old paths are cut open into something resembling roads, and bridges are placed where they are needed. Commuting has never been easier.
- The very fringes of Arstotzka see contact of the Plague, but an unwillingness to allow people in these regions prevents an outbreak.
- A respectable contingent is gathered and sent to reinforce Amarja. Little occurs, however, and they soon return.
- "Guild" as it is referred to, a Guard for the ruling Elite is established, concerned more with their loyalty to the concept of Artotzka than their work as a guard. What this means, who knows.

- A Constitution, novel for the time, is written, a contract between the powers that be and the people they represent, of rights and duties to the people.
- The Ural Range is fortified against incursion with the additions of a handful of Forts, both for garrison and training.
- The Magyars continue to refuse contact with foreigners, denying any exchange with the Cattonians.
- Guildhouses are established, and the free-market flourishes thanks to unified workers of the same stripe.

- Formal militias are established throughout Maldania, providing a standing guard to the nation.
- New roadwork is laid, mostly consisting of dirt paths freed of foliage and wooden bridges, but every bit helps.
- Apothecaries and surgeons move to the south, as this region sees hospitals built in score.
- Children are allowed to go to school. They fail to do so as they are needed at home.

- Secret events occur. Secretly.
- A standing army is established, formed of mostly willing peasants, and some not that willing. Such is that Moklaezia now has a professional military, often employed by foreign powers, both a way to make money and experience the men.
- Attempts to contact the Maygars and those surrounding the Aral sea do not see success.
- An ambitious project begins to make the Dniester a far more suitable path to the Black Sea. Such will take a great deal of time.
- A handful of modest outposts are established. Their purpose, in truth, is to warn of foreign advances.

- New fortifications see immediate use, as Foznia comes under attack from neighbors to the north and filthy barbarians to the west.
- Funding is given to apothecaries to make their goods with. Snake oil is requested, oddly enough.
- Mandate of education is now law. As one might predict, attendance remains low for boys, high for girls.
- WOMEN IN THE ARMY. THE IDEA IS… not unheard of in the region, thanks to Samaritan peoples. Virgin women take up their bows and assemble in service, wise in light of recent attacks.
- Formally established militias are chartered and gathered. The rule of no girls allowed is quickly dissolved.

As much as I'm probably deserving of this, I'm still going to ask that the Sachielions cease their portion of the assault on my nation. I know you offered trades a while back that I hadn't responded to, but I definitely was not refusing such; I just had things to deal with. If this is supposed to be some sort of opportunity thing with the Anatolians, that'd be more understandable, but I'd still prefer not being ruthlessly killed off until such actions are actually worth doing, you know?

@Anatolians

Well, it looks like you passed through. Have fun with those Magyars/Madomis/Turks…

Seriously though, totally understanding this attack, but I'd still prefer to play the game for a bit longer than the next turn. In case you guys couldn't tell, I wasn't exactly gearing up to be a conquesting nation or anything (although that's probably why this may be happening)

If anyone still wants to do some alliance-y stuff, I could use a little help down here, I guess…

@Arstotzka:

Many of Al Amarja's witches/warlocks, druids/druidesses, shamans, mystics, and priests/priestesses have heard that the nobility in Arstotzka are willing to pay those who are said to be intune with the otherside and the beings that live there and are heading to Arstozka to assist in that effort. We wish to know if the nobles of Arstozka is willing to let them in?

@Foznia
Okay, here's the deal. Sachielia would be willing to cease attacks under these conditions
1) Allow me to keep and riches and lands I have already claimed
2) Open up trade with me
3) Continue to allow the Anatolians to go east.
4) Agree to not attempt any counter attacks now or in the future under the threat of TOTAL ANNIHILATION/CONQUEST.
If we can agree on this, we can go back to being friendly neighbors.

Uhh, sure?

I mean, you really didn't need to invade me and stuff; a semi-irate PM would've been perfectly fine.

Still don't know what the Anatolians are even going to do East what with all those other nations

…Wait are you sure I can't have my capital city back? Granted I never fully intended it to be a capital in the first place, but things happen

Man, I'm going all over the place in this post, but the more I keep thinking things through, the more I'm starting to have issues with condition 1. The other three are perfectly fine by my standards, but I'd strongly prefer not being physically walled off from Player nations, especially given my position in the middle of all these (potentially and most likely hostile) NPC nations. Just saying

Okay, how about this: You can keep your land, the riches stay with me, and I can have access to any future ports you build, if you build any.

Excellent, glad we could resolve this. Since this conflict seems to have been settled, I think it may be a good idea to form an alliance between Sachielia, the Anatolians and Foznia. We're surrounded by some pretty big neighbors, and I feel it would be advisable to band together before something nasty happens.

What year will the next turn be? Does history play out as it did IRL in places we cannot see? Is that strange landmass Atlantis?

1. 740 AD

2. In the Eastern Hemisphere, in areas not affected by player intervention, yes.

3. Maybe.

@Cale,

"Theocracy" brilliant.

@Crow,

Keep your voice down comrade, the peasantry must not know of the elites intentions.

You see Arstotzka wishes to rid its lands of these religions, the only true faith is in Arstotzka itself. The "Theocracy" is nothing more than a tool currently in the firm grasp of the ruling Oligarchy, being used only to promote the nations practical efforts. In short terms, religion was effectively hijacked for its power and will hopefully be gotten rid of entirely when the time comes.

If your shamans and what not wish to promote the oligarchies twisted religious preachings then you are more than welcome in these lands, they should expect okay pay in return.

However if they deviate and spread foreign culture then they will be undoubtedly ejected via catapult from the region.

@Anatolia,

You attack Foznia and cause it great damage just to pass through and head East….

quoting Slappy "Have fun"

@Authoria,

I was wondering if you have an relationships going with the Laeufe?

For this grand occasion of gender equality and new militias in Al Amarja we are now ready to make two new additions to our trade routes. The first to our new trade is the newly popular tattoos. For this one we can either have our tattoo makers visit your nation to do their work or have it be the other way around, you can decide on that one if you want tattoos to appear on your nation.

The second one that we are ready to sell isn't so much as trading away as it is tutorship. Our bards and song-makers are ready to teach their skills to anyone who is willing to learn. Similar to the tattoo makers you can either have them come to your nation or have your citizens visit our nation.

The Arstotzkan "Theocracy" is proud to announce that Mokläzia and its almighty economic prowess has joined the Alliance bringing its member count upto a very stronk and capable 5. As a new member of the alliance they immediately qualify for all the treaties included in the original agreement.

Current members:
Arstotzka
Astora
The Anatolians
Al Amarja
Mokläzia

All but two of my moves were shelved due to lack of cash, such is shitty life in Arstotzka. shot

@Spider-byte,

We planned an incursion into Laeufe territory however it has have been halted due to cash problems. If you want to try and joint strike these lot then we will still try and push for a low-budget attack but fear that we shall take heavy losses in the process.

If Arstotzka had a money boost then it could effectively raise a well trained and efficient army in time for an attack. Train spear/pike men to combat those Laeufe cavalry and what not.

@Astora,

Trading with the filthy milk drinking Laeufe? comrade, did you not know that these people fornicate with their cattle? that their women hold positions of power?…the Guards over at the NW settlement have reported sightings of these Laeufe "men" frolicking about their lands naked and covered in butter….strange people indeed.

The Arstotzkan "Gods" wish to attack them and have them all slaughtered for being such a bunch of puffs. Surely the almighty Astorans will cut their trade routes with the Laeufe? do you really want to be associated with such butter-lubing-cattle-bumming-merrymen?

- Many of the Amarjian Saboteurs work with Moklaezia, and pass along their knowledge.
- Missionaries struggle with their work in Maldania and the Voltagenites: The former is predominately adherents to The Heirs of The Sun, while the Voltagenites are split between Islam and The Heirs of The Sun.
- Work begins on the establishment of a standing navy, using Longboat designs from the north.
- Translators become standard among Moklaezian Companies. Notably, several are hired on by the Realm of Vitalian.

- New roadways are carved out in Foznia. They connect with Sachielian paths, and create something of a highway between the powers.
- Additional rights of women are granted: voting and land ownership, putting them nearly on the level of their men-folk.
- The Militias of Foznia are now taught to read and right, an excellent means of promoting literacy.

- The Madomi commit to a devastating war against the Goturks. Disorganized and teetering on collapse as they were, the Madomi sweep through and capture the capital of the Khaganate, making a vassal of the local Khagan. Much of the realm splinters at this event and rally into much more stable, independent nations.
- Annual tribute is exacted from the Khaganate, several hundred pounds of gold a year.
- The Madomi swell in strength and number, and are bursting at the seams. The confederation will not be able to hold together under such pressure.

EVERYONE BE PRAISIN NOW.

@the nations of Astora and Sachelia

In order for easier trade, the Maldanian Senate would like to connect our great nations together using our innovative roads in order to establish safe travel between our people. It will not only benefit trade and travel in our lands, but benefit our relations as well.

Sincerely

@Falc,

Good plan comrade, Arstotzka will hold out until you begin your attack. If Authoria decides to step in too and join the attack then the gains will be split three ways.

Yes. Authoria is going to attack.

Sure, go ahead.

Arstotzka, Anatolia, Astora, and Moklaezia

It seems the Vitalians have finally started to threaten my nation. Right now I wish to see if there's a way to handle this matter in a more diplomatic way without bloodshed or forced conversion, but if diplomacy fails I need to know that you four will be there to assist Al Amarja if the Vitalians decide to attack.

Also Cale I'll send you my turn when I get back to my home computer cause right now I'm writing this on my IPad and rather continue with this Rp in my house then with my IPad.

>Inb4 Madomi replaces the Mongol Empire

Kalos: The Mokläzian people are suspicious of your recent expansion towards us. If you do not stop, there will be major repercussions on both your nation and every nation for 2000 leagues!

You're certainly one to talk seeing as you just closed up my window to the Black Sea, which was, oh right, the entire fucking point of my whole campaign.

Look, I really don't care much about you or your nation, and piddly, half-witted bullshit threats like this don't normally phase me. But you took something valuable that I had my eyes on, and now you've awakened my ire.

I'll be kind for a brief moment. If you cede me some land on the Black Sea, I'll forget this happened and leave you alone forever. If not, well, then you've made an enemy. I won't attack you, because I have no desire to be drawn into a long, costly war, but I promise we will not get along in the future.

The mighty Danube River is our nation's birthright, and no empty declarations of anger from anyone will change our opinions otherwise. We can see through your plans of friendly annexation: an unbroken border from Pomerania to Dacia would effectively monopolize all the land-based luxury trading in Europe, and would cripple not only our nation, but the three others of my allies. Such a situation would be absolutely unacceptable for everyone.

Abandon your claims; Mokläzia and her allies will not bow to your demands. No one person fears them; our banner shall always hang proudly above our land.

The Anatolians are moving about but I don't see any text describing the events. Why is this? They are my closest neighbor so I am curious about their methods.

Oh my GOD this is fucking hopeless.

Fine. I can see that you enjoy being irrational, so let me speak to you in a language you understand.

From this day forth, I lay a curse upon thy banner. Any land underneath it shall fall into sickness, famine, and conflict until the day it is freed. Your children shall grow infertile, and your lineage be plagued by incestuous illness most foul. Tyrants shall spring from thy loins, and drive your people into revolt. And eventually, the name Moklaezia shall be synonymous with nothing but servants and whores.

I seal this curse with the words of damnation spoken throughout our lands. Words of terror and conviction. Words more powerful than the men who speak them.

Valar Morghulis. All men must die.

Valar Dohaeris. All men must serve.

To Everyone Else: Everything he's saying is absolutely absurd. I have no ill intentions against anyone, and I'm simply trying to advance in this game. No one was expanding into central Europe and I saw a way to the Black Sea and the Dacian trade route, so I decided to try and take it. It just happens to be a long way from home. Not trying to get up in anyone's grills or anything. Pretty simple.

Basically, I'm not going to attack anyone, and please don't attack me. Let's all just be cool.

The Anatolians aren't doing anything specific. Simply moving east, as such, It doesn't warrant any sort of description.

@Babby

Hmm…. Syndic are you the Madonies?
your ways are lovely, but don’t worry, we are just going to seberia

Follow Syndic everywhere he goes, because that would be hilarious!

@Shabbs

I’ll ally with the Anatolians.

There wont be much point in that if they're gonna be in Siberia and you have no connection to them. I'd worry more about your relations with your direct neighbors who are boxing you in

But do it anyway and get your turn in because you're about to be booted from the game you tried so badly to be in. If that happened that would also be hilarious!
