As Stellaris is coming out I thought "hey, I have a preorder and feel like being an absolute ass nice guy and add some buddies to my game" so here it is. We already have the Holy Order of the Lewd Spider and Ignis

Step 1: pick a portrait

Redded out means it's claimed.

Step 2: Give empire name, race name, adjective race name and race name in plural.

Step 3: Pick a world. The world you pick is the climate you ayy's will survive in the best.

Arctic

Arid

Continental

Desert

Ocean

Tropical

Tundra

Step 4: The crunch
Make your race's politics and traits.
Protip: Spirituality gives you a greater chance to breed a psyker and xenophobe/xenophilia can give you unique technologies based on their ideas. Advanced political ideas can be reached and god-emperorships can come out of divine mandates.

Step 5: Starting Tech
Do you use bullets, nukes or lasers? Do you use warp (slow but more free movement), hyperspace (fast but you have to follow specific roads) or wormholes (extremely fast but you need to build portals)

Step 6 (optional): write your lore :D

The Kaltharians originated on the planet known as Kaltha. Originally a very humid ocean environment, over time it's climate changed and it now is an arid planet on the verge of becoming a full on desert. Due to this climate change, the Kaltharians developed some resistance to arid environments, and have become a sort of aquatic/arid animal. Throughout almost all their history, the Kaltharians have been trying to fix a problem: how do you live in an arid environment when you're aquatic? Out of trying to answer this question, the Kaltharians developed a society built upon innovation and research in order to fix their problem. After getting into space, they though they found their answer: colonized an oceanic world. Yet when they attempted this they fared no better than on their own homeworld. After this failure, they've decided the only place they'd thrive in would be a world that they'd create themselves, which further fuels their drive for innovation.

Since ancient times the Avargans have been building Empires, typically ruled by a single individual. After a brief interlude of global democracies and worldwide nationalist sentiments, a new ideology of pragmatism and militarism became vogue at the onset of the first industrial revolution. Dicators were elected into power in one country after another as the people of various nations felt threatened by their neighbors, abandoning democracy in favor of security. Worldwide war soon became commonplace, and conquerors proved the greatness of their people on continental sized battlefields. The invention of the atomic weapon changed everything, however. Over the course of a century the proliferation of this weapon and its frequent use wrought havok upon the planet's ecosystem, and population soon plummetted as a nuclear winter froze the arctic seas, caused great famine, and threatened to end all life.

Once it became apparent that the world was about to be doomed, the seven most powerful warlords came together and resolved to reverse their misfortunes by constructing a New World Order. With their pooled resources they crushed all opposition of the other nations and ceased nuclear weapons use. They engaged their people in massive projects, draining seas and constructing forests to control the environment. As the dictators aged, they could not collectively decide with total concensus upon a set of new leaders to replace them, and so they left this decision in the hands of the people; as it had once been that dictators were elected into power, so it should be again. One by one, the Emperors died and new men were elected in their place.

Now entering the space age, the Avargans are wary of rapid expansion, partly feeling more attached to the homeworld they have grown and cultivated for centuries, and partly knowing from their terrible past what kinds of friction such colonial activities can cause. However, their political experiences have proven that a capable military commander is greater than any other kind of specialist; their pragmatic, straightforward methods give Avargan leadership the willingness to use brute force when delicacy fails, tackling complex problems with simple solutions and, when the time calls for it, enslaving or destroying their more troublesome neighbors.

1) Top right of this set:

The vaugely sloth-ish species.

2) Empire Name: The Alpaca Fan Club
Race name (singular): Slaath
Race name (adjective): Slaathanian
Race name (plural): Slaathses

3) World type:

Ocean

4) Here is my crunch.

5) Lasers and warp.

6) The origin of The Alpaca Fan Club's name is actually due to a clerical error, rather than any sort of feelings regarding Alpacas. It's occasionally suggested that a new name be chosen but nobody really cares enough to try advocating a new one.
The Slaathses are actually water breathers (despite their appearance) so they wear "water masks" when they leave the water. Their main form of communication is something akin to sign language that uses more than just the hands (it almost seems like a weird tap dance) although there are some basic cues that are relayed through sound created through various gurgling noises.
Mainly, the Slaathses "are all about relaxing and enjoying life and being cool to other people and junk".

(Note: I hope this doesn't seem like I'm being ironic or mocking, because I'm not. I just like the idea of a happy go lucky race. Also, is this like nations RP where we do stuff after, or do we just set up the scenario and you narrate what happens?)

Kind of. I let the AI rule some stuff but if it is like all the other Paradox games you can take control of the AI's and do some decision yourself so I can ask the thread if X should happen to a empire.

Oh cool. Thanks for bringing up this game, by the way. I never heard of it, but it looks really cool.

I'm not very sure on the mechanics in this game, but is it possible for a primitive race to start worshiping an advanced race as a god?

Primitive races can be "enlightened" by you giving them the tech. They will automatically become your protectorate and finally be your loyal vassals when they fully develop good technology. You can also conquer and enslave them as their tech isn't as advanced as yours.

Dang it, I wanted to be worshiped as Cthulhu.

The Qoyunlid homeworld of Rahn'Vahl had been an incredibly unforgiving place for the infantile arthropoids during their rise to dominance on the windswept icy surface of the jagged world. It had once been a fertile, if a bit chilly at times, mountainous world; a safe haven for most forms of carbon-based life to evolve without too much hassle, save perhaps extraterrestrial influences.Their world quickly turned bleaker as the first tribes of Qoyunlids rose above the other creatures of their freezing earth. Resources that were vital to the tribes became scarce, and aggressive policies began to arise following tensions and raids rising exponentially. Their already somewhat violent tendencies became ever more apparent as the never ending ice age rolled in…

…Tribal warfare became commonplace as each nation grew quickly thanks in no small part to their incredibly-quick breeding cycle, but their societies would all change a few centuries down the line when feudal societies rose as the Qoyunlid people settled down primarily along the equator where the most precious warmth from their home star fell. To the more isolated, frigid mountains of the north and south, monasteries carved into the icy peaks were where the Qoyunlid people found their faith, and it was from there that at least one unifying factor was laid down as the cornerstone of Qoyunlid unification. As many nations rose up at the equator, the most powerful was none of these. Instead, from the frozen hellscape of the north, a mighty empire had grown to be the uncontested power over much of that desolate land; Seqrakhs'Guuhl, a monarchy devoted to militarism with religious flavoring, gathered its forces and launched a series of wars to conquer their home planet…

…After years of bloody conflict, the Qoyunlid people were finally united under a singular massive, planet spanning nation. Rahn'Vahl was conquered after the devotion of their resources, which would leave behind massive amounts of industrial waste and outcasted and impoverished undesirables in shanty towns across the world. Their militancy remained, but who was left to conquer? They had a world to themselves, and their technology was at its peak. It didn't take them long to look up to their home star Qaalyu and the surrounding heavens for their answer. Their efforts were rewarded with the invention of the Warp Drive, and their weapons advances gave them Red Lasers, the beginning of Laser Weapon Technology. With their Empress Qixyi'akkul leading their nation, they travel once more unto the breach. Their cautious yet calculative conquests now geared for the stars.

The arachnid portrait was already claimed by Mako. The portrait wasn't in the roster image I found so I couldn't colour it. Sorry.

Just so you all know, there's apparently some extra-galactic or extra-dimensional race called the Unbidden that will consume all life in the galaxy. Apparently they're summoned if you research some sort of special warp drive and it tears a hole in space-time.
We're children playing with fire here.

Well I played the game, and I inadvertently did a pretty spot on reenactment of the Rachni Wars from Mass Effect.
>Played grey-looking reptile race and fanatic materialist/xenophiles
>Encounter incredibly aggressive bug people who begin to wreck my shit
>Encounter turtle-looking people who I uplift to become my vassal
>Use turtle people are ground troops to retake my stuff and lay waste to the bug people
>Create giant empire from bug people's remains
>Turtle people wanted more stuff so they rebel
>Genocide the turtle people

Currently I'm trying to research the psi-drive, that can't end badly can it?

Race Plural: Aptenodytes

Laser weapons and wormholes

6. Aptenodytes home world of Irithyll was always a hostile and unforgiving world for many who were not born to to withstand the frozen landscape and the bone chilling winds. Once it use to be a tropical paradise home to an advanced set of alien civilizations, many of them ranging from insects, reptiles and amphibians who have long since died out when the world began to cool down and many of them could not survive against the change climate.

It was with their death that bird and mammals, once mere animals used for both food and pets, now roam freely and dominated the world. As they evolved and adapted to their new world a select few began to develop sapience and began to ask themselves were do they come from and was their world always a frozen ball?

The Aptenodytes were a collection of tribal confederacies, small kingdoms, independent city states, developing empires, and many other nationstates. The many nations that the Aptenodytes have were far to different from each other for the people to ever truly become a united force on their own, yet several key events happen both within their nations and from beyond that would soon change the Aptenodytes civilization.

The first was the formation of three great faiths and schools of philosophical thoughts that would help ease in the desperate cultures in Aptenodyte civilization, trading with other empires from the more mammalian creatures of the worlds that helped spread new ideals and technology along with the Aptendoytes experiencing a cultural, spiritual and technological renaissance.

Of that many things that spawn from the enlightenment and renaissance were liberal ideas with the concept of individualism striking more to the hearts and minds of the future rulers of Irithyll. The change that happened to most of the Aptendoytes civilization were often different stories, where some going through non violent reforms and other nations falling into civil war and revolutions. Yet with the mammalian neighbors many of them did not like the talks of liberal democracy and chose to wipe the Aptendoytes out to prevent their ideals from spreading.

Aptendoytes would have indeed been destroyed if they have not discovered the technologies of the precursors and with them laser weapons and wormholes. Using these new weapons and technology the smaller Aptendoytes began to push back against the aggressive mammals and just when it seems that things couldn't be worse for the Aptendoytes enemies a plague and famine ravaged their lands, crumbling down their already weaken armies.

The war ended with a peace treaty which made sure that no other party would attack the other while they recovered. The Aptendoytes civilization continued to grow and prosper while the civilizations of the mammals continue to spiral downward until eventually all of their civilizations ceased to be, with only nomadic tribes being the last remnants of these former civilizations.

With the mammals no longer in the way the Aptendoytes grow their civilization until they finally conquered their home world, creating the United Federation of Irithyll. With them now knowing much of their world many began to be fascinated on what secrets and mysteries can be found in space as most of their advanced technology came from beings who predated them and most likely came from the stars.

Using their resources and ingenuity they crafted both space ships and gateways to use their wormhole technology to explore the cosmos and experience all that it has to offer..

Yep, it just fucked the galaxy up. They've come. At least it happened relatively far away from my homeworld, and it seems like they are currently trying to blow the shit out of some of the other empires, so I'm currently safe to try to build up my fleet in order to try and push them back. Either that, or try and direct them into my enemies.

What sort of designs can our ships have because I want mines to be black and silver and maybe have them be sleek?

Currently, there are 6 predetermined "designs" of ships. These six go along with the six race groups. This doesn't mean however, that you are limited to what type of race you are. For example, you could be an arthropod but have an avian ship design. You can mix and match them to what you like.
You also have predetermined names, but in game you can edit and change them to what you want.

Are there any images of the six ship? Because I want to see them and decide how my ship should look like and as for names I would think about those later.

Here are the designs of the Six Science Ship models for each Phenotype.

Great to hear, can't wait for this thing to actually start. I've also been torn on whether or not I should stay Spiritual or change to Materialistic?
