This will be a semi-interactive observer campaign in Europa Universalis 4. You can create your own country and then watch it find its place in the Early Modern Era.
Creating a Country
Please provide the following:
1. A description or picture of your flag.
2. Nation name and adjective.
3. Religion. Here's a list of religions in the game.
4. Government: Monarchy, Theocracy, Monastic Order, Oligarchic Republic, or Merchant Republic.
5. Lore/history/culture/etc.
6. Territory (how to claim land is explained further below)
Claiming Land on the Map (setup)
When making your nation you must claim a few regions on the map below. Color in the map using MSpaint or some other image editor program, draw a dot or a star at the location where you want your capital city, then post the resulting image in this thread. You are limited to a certain number of regions based upon where your capital is located. Gray may select 3 regions, Purple may select 4, Orange gets 5, and Green 7.
You may select across color boundaries if you want. Your capital location is the deciding factor for how many regions you may select, what culture your nation is, and what your tech group will be. Please choose regions that are relatively close to one another; if any of your regions are landlocked away from each other I will tell you to change your selection.
Important things to Note
The gray area is the Holy Roman Empire (HRE). If your capital is in the HRE you must be a christian denomination (preferably Catholic) or else your country will be destroyed very quickly. Nations inside the HRE may fight each other, but nations outside the HRE cannot invade HRE lands without also going to war with the Emperor, an elected nation which is typically the most powerful country in the HRE.
Certain map areas also have tech disadvantages, based upon where you put your capital. Orange area has a 20% increase in tech cost, and Green has a 40% increase. Your nation may westernize at some point in the game, removing this tech cost restriction, but until then your country will be a bit weak compared to the more advanced nations in western Europe.
If you want to colonize the Americas you must be touching the Atlantic Ocean. Starting anywhere else it will be too far away for you to send settlers. While it is possible to conquer provinces along the Atlantic and then begin sending colonists from there, I would recommend that you instead just start the game on the coast if your dream is to be a colonial power.
Time Progression and Commands
The starting year is 1444, and each "turn" will last ten years. Between turns you may issue commands to your country. You do not need to do this, it is just an option.
You do not need to know anything about EU4 to issue such commands; just pretend as if it is a real country and tell it to do something a real country might do, and I will simulate this as best I can in-game. For the most part, EU4 only deals with diplomacy, conquest, religion, colonization, and land development.
Because the AI is in complete control, there is no way to guarantee that your country will follow your commands to the letter.
You can issue these commands here, in the thread, or via PM.
